Add to the whole scenario the possibility of a supercharged 392 Dodge Challenger within the next couple years and the horsepower wars are really on. While it is still rumor, the new Charger SRT8 has its "Performance Pages" on the head unit that display a whole bunch of performance data and one of the "unused" gauges right now is "boost". Possibly some insight into the future.
Either way, the big three playing one-up of each other is only good news for all of us. What was the most appealing part of the ZL1 for me at the time I was considering it was the fact that it was built for the abuse of taking it to the track and comes with a 5yr/100k warranty. I think that speaks volumes to what GM has put into this car to back it with that type of warranty understanding the abuse this car may take from some owners.

Pre tax - real price, no options (exception 6 speed auto)
Manual $54,995 + GGT $1300.00 = $56,255 Auto $54,995 + GGT $2600.00 + 6 Speed Auto + $1185.00 = $57,740.00 So nearly $58K for the auto (pre tax). |

Hopefully they provide some real 0-60 and 1/4 mile data. Rolling start? No such thing.

I really think they are being modest with the times seriously, im sure this will put out good numbers when magazines and testers get their hands on it.

Hard to compare like that. Quote:

Hows your stock ride height? Good set of dual dampening coilovers can be better than MR. Of course if you're not a pro driver you'll never notice the diff. I'd prefer to be able to lower my car a bit. Which you can't do with a ZL1 unless you siconect the MR. I didn't see the point. Quote:

Supercars would be easily sufficient. Again, I'll enjoy my lowered ride AND a great suspension. You can't lower yours. And you may not want to but I like the option and I think it would look much better lowered. jmo Quote:

Gas Guzzler tax tells me no. Being less than a year of a full 2012 run I'm guessing nothing. |

Taken from the chief tester at Edmonds.
On the other hand, the use of rollout with 0-60 times is inappropriate in our view. For one, 0-60-mph acceleration is not a drag-racing convention. More important, it's called ZERO to 60 mph, not 3 or 4 mph to 60 mph, which is what you get when you apply rollout. While it is tempting to use rollout in order to make 0-60 acceleration look more impressive by 0.3 second, thereby hyping both the car's performance and the apparent skill of the test driver, we think it's cheating. |

To me...... even if I had no Camaro it's too rich for my blood. I'd buy an SS and fix it up from there. I'd be missing some interior bells and whistles and the MR but neither would make a difference to me. In fact, if I could buy a ZL1 I'd disconnect the MR anyway so I could lower the car. Gonna be a bas ass car for those with the cake to afford it though. |

Those times are from a rolling start! WHAT????? A current GT500 can do those times now. I am very disappointed to say the least.

I guessed $55k. $5 off the actual price, not bad.

These are indeed great numbers all the way around. Now, where's my checkbook...
