NPP-just noise, no additional power?

I've got a 2SS/RS vert on order and based on comments I've seen here, I checked the NPP box. I notice on the new Corvette, GM claims a 5 HP increase but not on the Camaro. Is it just a sound enhancement? Will front end breathing improvements such as a CAI and TB porting give a power boost with the NPP or do you really have to go the full aftermarket headers and back approach. I do not want the full time noise of headers--I prefer stealth.

I'd love to hear from those of you with NPP about HP mods you've made. Did you keep or ditch the factory upgrade exhaust you paid for in favor of a better breathing exhaust?

If I wasn't on my phone right now I would search out some threads for you. Basically, you just opened a big ole can of worms with that question.

Hey, I'm just lining up the mods so I can get busy when my car arrives. I read through several pages of the DIY forum and it was very helpful. I've already purchased a catch can and 1LE separator, skip shift eliminator, interior cover and gill stripes. I'm thinking the next 2 items will be TB porting and a CAI intake so I'm wondering how these front end breathing mods will work with NPP or do you really need to go headers back (which I dont really want to do) to maximize the front end mods. Just looking for information.

Check my build thread on my 1LE in my sig. I put down 432HP/422TQ through my NPP. Just bolt on mods. I think it's currently the last or next to last post where I describe what I have.

Edit... look at post #222.

It opens a baffle and changes the path of the exhaust for a louder sounds and more flow so yes of course it makes a little more power and Camaros were never listed as making more power with it as it was not a selling point as we are just trying to skirt the gas guzzler tax as is, and of course people will say oh its not that better.... Yah Banana Squirts I owned another 2011 Camaro with stock exhaust and yes its totally worth it, and if you do not own it you should keep your opinions to the floor if you have a opinion on it if your going to criticize cause money talks and ......... you never had it. And most of all its nice to make the car quiet especially by the cops...

I think its LG motorsport that has a dyno sheet showing a big tq gain under 3500rpm, around 15tq IIRC. Its not the best spot but it does make more hp and tq. I think its pretty safe to say the it has the same 5hp gain as the Vette does. Vette marketing...

Any catback is "just noise no so much hp"... NPP is free flowing and support big hp and the sound is amazing. A must have IMO. The stock mufflers are very good but no sound and are heavy.

I have the NPP option on my car and love it. Does it add appreciable hp? Probably not, but the sound is so good that I am not even considering any other exhaust option, other than maybe hi flow cats down the line. So unless you are planning long tube headers and complete exhaust mod, I feel that the NPP option is a great choice.

Dealer told my buddy who bought a '13 that it adds about the same as a ls3 vetted.

It does sound awesome, plus the quad exhaust looks better.

Not going to add power. the regular cat back flows plenty up to what 600hp. The only restriction in our exhaust is the manifolds and cats.

Performance gains from NPP is negligible. I wouldn't spend the $800 on the NPP package. Just get factory exhaust, then muffler delete and swap the resonator for an x-pipe
