How much do you pay for insurance?

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to be asking but how much do you pay for your insurance, fellow camaro owners. I'm looking into buying a '95-'00 camaro sometime soon since I'm about to start college and getting to work everyday without a car is a real hassle! I'm 18, not a single bad mark on my record but I can't find anything under 5.5-6.5k every 6 months! Maybe someone can shine some light on my problem. I live in a suburb of Chicago, IL btw.
Thanks for any help!

V6 or 8?? that will make a difference.

I can't compare apples to apples here because of my age, plus I keep the Camaro in Storage over half the year, & have other vehicles on the policy.... but the liaibility is starting to even out now.

All I can say is keep your record clean, & (Chicago snowbelt??) really consider another vehicle for winter use.

I'm looking at a certain '95 Z28 camaro currently so its the v8.
But yea, I guess i'm gonna have to get a junker to run through the winter and save up for the expensive policy after the winter is over. :(

I just turned 25 and just liability is $180 every 6 months for my 1997 Z28 or $360 every 6 months for collision with $250 deductible.

Just to make it clear, this guy is asking about insurance for a 4th gen Camaro. He is not asking how much the new 5th gen is running.

Another factor is if you are going to have Comp & collision on it, plus a higher deductable.

A car that age, they recommend you drop collision, which brings me to the point of how do you insure a older car but not a classic in nice shape for a fixed value?

The car is devalued so much & with body work being astronomical, a parking lot ding would effectavely total the car out.

Right, 15 here, so my rates are a obviously going to be high, but my parents pay $300 a year for my '98, and then another$1100 or so when they add me to the policy....
yeah, not so pretty...
