3.91 gears help

First off sorry for posting this in the wrong section but I need quick answers. I’m at work and don’t have time to research but today I have an eBay promo/gift card I’m able to use to purchase the ring and pinion set for my 2011 2SS auto. I know I could buy from our vendors but I don’t have a gift card for them and want to save. I just need the correct part number and a possible eBay link if the camaro 5 community can find it. Thanks in advance now I’m getting back to work. Will check in a few hours in my lunch

just for comparison sake. Most dealers have the gear set listed for around $508-$510 or so. If you do some shopping around you may be able to find it cheaper than on ebay even with your discount. Looks like Tick has it for $450 right now.

Yeah local small town transmission shop. Dealer quoted me $600+ but when the local guy that I've used before told me $200/$250 I jumped on it.

That was dropping the car off in the AM and picking it up in the same afternoon. I forgot that I did supply the oil though.

Atta boy. No reason this stuff should cost so much to do. I have 800 miles on my new gears already and loving them.

I have some free money right now to do a few mods to the car and this has me very tempted. I had better call around to some shops first though.

Thanks man.

Do it. With these prices it's good bang for the buck

You're a bad influence (in a good way). I want gears so bad but have been hesitant seeing that others spend about $1,800-$2,000 to have a shop do it. If I your telling me I can get the parts myself and have a local transmission shop do the install for a reasonable price and be out $800 or less, then I am going to have to do this.

I have 2 questions though.

What did you do for speedo calibration and how much did it cost? I see some of the GM gear sets you can buy from dealerships come with free calibration service too. But if you have to pay for the install at the dealership that might not be a good deal after all.

I have a manual and have been hesitant to step up to 3.91s not thinking it was a big enough jump to make it worth it. When I think about 4.11s, I see a mixed bag of people saying they are the way to go on an NA car but they can be noisier and might not be as strong. So I am kinda leaning toward 3.91s and possibly going FI in the future (centri SC).

OP, let us know how it turns out... very interested in your results and first impressions.
