The other thing, in stop and go traffic...what I've found is also, at certain speeds, working the clutch only to keep the vehicle very slowly, while maintaining enough following distance to predict how fast the traffic in front of you is going to slow down or speed up. Anyways, 4-5, I leave it in 1st, 6-9, I use 2nd, and 10-13, 3rd, and 14-16 I use 4th. By using the clutch, it keeps those little gas taps down, as well. Best I've gotten so far in stop and go traffic on the 10E at prime rush hour at around 5pm is 22mpg. |

its a manual mode for automatics. I believe you put the shifter in "M" and use the buttons on the backside of the steering wheel to shift up or down.

When did this turn into a Prius Forum? Since I like to stomp on it passing eco-milers I get about 14/24.....I smile even when I think about the growl she makes.

Just trying to stretch a dollar. Why go one week on a tank when I can get 2?

Lol @ not caring. If I didn't have a parking lot like commute in DTLA everyday, and gas prices weren't close to 4.40 a gallon and climbing in some places, I probably wouldn't care too much.

Just accelerate slowly (keeping the rpm's at or below 2k) and don't speed (speed limit here is 55, so driving that gets me 29.5 mpg average).

If I drive it just a little more agressive, I average 18.5. So I say to myself, self that is a saving of 1.5 mpg, I have a 19 gallon tank (if I drove it empty) I would get 28.5 miles more out of a tank of gas. So I save 1.5 gallons of gas to drive SLOW and BORING. Question, is it would the $6.00 (@ 4.00/gal) ?

Have you done the fuse pull on yours yet? If you haven't, you need to do a search for it and definitely do that. I was getting 12-13 before the fuse pull and now I am getting 15-16 mpg. |

That was about what I was getting before I did the fuse pull. Do a search for it and give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
