COMPARISON TESTS AutoBild Sportscars - BMW M4 DKG Coupé vs Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

This article came in 10 days ago and although the Z/28 lapped Sachsenring 2.5 seconds faster than the BMW M4 ,the German still consisder the M4 the winner in this head to head comparaison.
http://www.germancarforum.com/commun...ro-z-28.51612/

Notice: the cost of the Z/28 is $98,000 Euro ($118,355.usd) compare to the $89Keuro for the M4.

Read the comments from the bloggers, always the same excuses: It's because of the Trofeo R tires!

Check out the lap times list at Sachsenring :
http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/sachsenring.html

I'm a bit desapointed in the lap time... I hope that MT laguna Seca time will tel another story against the Porsche 911 Turbo S (991)...

Since today we have the lap times from randy Pobst with the Porsche Turbo S at 1:35.62

and the BMW M4 also at 1:39.69

Comparing times at Sachsenring, I'm thinking that the Z/28 with not go under the 1:36.. at Laguna Seca

:(

I'm not so sure anymore.. It might not after all.

Here's the lap of the Porsche 911 Turbo S at Sachsenring, Germany

The Camaro lapped it 2.7second slower.
The only thing that might bring the Z/28 in front of the Porsche is the fact that all these times were done by car journalist... not a hot shoe driver like Pobst.

Essentially, they dinged the Z/28 because it makes a very bad Daily Driver in Germany. Too funny; that's like dinging a smartcar because it's slower than a Top Fuel dragster in the 1/4 mile...

Sachsenring and Laguna Seca are comparable tracks... pretty close in length and number of turns minus the Corkscrew.

Bet that 911 Turbo S pulls like a freight train up the hill at Laguna. Bet the Z/28 carries more entry and exit speed in the corners, though...

Turbo S: 118mph at the top of the hill, 41mph at the Apex on Top and 87mph top speed at the bottom for corkscrew
Z/28 : still to come...

I tried to do the same but couldn't find a text version. Sadly, my German is rusty enough that I'm not going to try to translate it myself...

Depends who you buy it from over here and the premium they charge. Mine cost me low Euro80s, so sub USD100k.

I know German, they called the Z/28 the GT3 for the Marlborough Man.

Sadly my former German countrymen have gone soft and instead of elevating the uncompromising raw track car rendition the Z/28 is; they extolled the comfort virtues of the M4

They did give the Z/28 the highest marks attainable in the cornering dynamics as well as the straight line dynamics (braking, throttle response and control).

The Laguna Seca Z/28 vid is up.
I am not disappointed since I am sure at the end of this test week, Randy will say that when all the Driver aids are turned off that the Z/28 is what he would like to wheel around race tracks.
The turbo cars can not be held on a knife edge without traction control, one needs the linear throttle control a NA motor has.
