Here's the user manual of a remote starter. Page 3 should be what you're looking for. The remote starters I've used for my manual cars have all used the handbrake method. Very easy. Here's the install guide, as well. Page 9 talks about the clutch bypass.

haven't even ordered mine yet, but i've spent many many hours deciding which to get.
i'm going with the auto. 1) it will be a daily driver. 2) i want remote start. 3) women that can drive stick are pretty rare. i'm putting a manual in my 71 monte for drifting, so i'll still get my manual fix. |

So I can keep my right hand free...fiddle around with the radio if I want in traffic or be able to scratch myself is a plus.

Now I get the instant power (no clutching and shifting into 1st gear at stop lights anymore--just hit the "go fast" pedal and hang on!). Plus, I have the VERY COOL remote start feature AND the heated seats with remote start--which has come in very handy this winter so far. I LOVE my 2SS/RS A6! Wouldn't have it any other way...

After driving a stick for 25 years, I'm done.
You can tell because I have a fork in my back! Okay, I really got the fork from a co-worker at work, but you get my point. |

I will admit that the remote start IS very cool, and I look forward to it in my 2SS/RS M6.

Agreed! Also heavy stop and go traffic, remote start, and being able to have a hot babe sit right by your side or on your lap while driving! lol....
Standard is a thing of the past, hate it when I'm right behind some fool at a stop light and they are rolling backwards, especially at uphill stops or traffic lights. |

I can drive a manual (all our ranch trucks for pulling the horse trailer are manuals) but I drive about 400 miles in my car a week and I have to go to houston often. So I went with the auto. If it was just a weekend car or I didn't have to put so many miles on the car I'd have gotten the manual.

Well after seeing 0-60 times were a little faster in the Auto and just a 10th of a second slower in 1/4 mile I decided to go for the Auto. If the times were quicker in the stick I'd have gone with the stick. Also the people doing the testing are dam good with the heal-to-toe shifting and are quick... If I can get the same times by just mashing the pedal down I'll go that route. it's a lot less effort with the same results and also driving in traffic is more relaxing.
