V6 engine swap

Well i recently wrecked my 97 3.8l Camaro but i didn't want to scrap it because i hardly have enough money to buy a new car so i was thinking about swapping the V6 in it into a cheap frame so as to keep my engine but still save some money. It's a 4 spd automatic and i was hoping someone could give me some input on what kind of car i would need and how hard it would really be.
I'm not the most mechanically inclined but i don't have the money to have it done professionally, i think it would be a good project to keep me busy

Why not look for a v6 4th gen (97-02) car with a blown engine / blown head gasket. When my 94 v6 camaro blew a head gasket I sold it to this guy for $400.... I regret that, but I had no place to store it. I see them on craigslist cheap without an engine. Is this kind of what you were thinking?
