Good for Ford and motor heads in general. Lots of cars beat the Z/28 already. I like mine though.

The GT 350R did dominate the race over The Stevenson Z/28's in the last Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. The rest of the series will be interesting, I do not see the Stevenson team rolling over that easily. I totally agree the Camaro's SS, Z/28 and ZL1 look so much better in my opinion and it is so much cheaper to get much bigger HP gains out of the Chevy's also.

The key missing words in this marketing blurb is "around Grattan". Recall the GT500 was faster around Laguna Seca than the ZL1...for 2 laps. After the 3rd lap and around every other track in the world, the ZL1 embarrassed the GT500. Same day, head-to-head comparisons will tell us how the 350 and 350R match up against the outgoing ZL1 and Z/28.

Streets of Willow (1.6 miles)
1LE 1:22.70
GT500 1:23.48

Grattan (2.0 miles)
ZL1 1:27.95
GT500 1:28.53

GingerMan (2.2 miles)
Z/28 1:41.80
ZL1 1:42.05
GT500 1:45.21

Laguna Seca (2.2 miles)
Z/28 1:37.82
GT500 1:38.70
ZL1 1:39.18

Sachsenring (2.3 miles)
Z/28 1:35.20
ZL1 1:38.13
GT500 1:38.26

Milford (2.9 miles)
Z/28 1:53.71
ZL1 1:56.58
1LE 1:58.85
Boss 302 LS 1:59.05
GT500 1:59.97

VIR (4.2 miles)
Z/28 2:50.9
ZL1 2:52.38
1LE 2:58.34
GT500 3:00.60

Nurburgring
ZL1 7:41.27
GT500 0:00.00

Hmm. Well, you've got brake fade and a solid rear axle that didn't help that cause. This isn't the same vehicle so the same theories don't apply. I highly, highly doubt that Ford would put all this time, money and engineering into this car just to have it perform subpar to any iteration of the 5th gen stock for stock. The 6th gen may have something up its sleeve but, GM set the bar for the 5th gen and it's only a matter of time before competitors put it in their rear view mirrors.

This most certainly is not the case of GM>Ford just because it's GM. I'd be supremely surprised if any model of the 5th gen (STOCK) stood a chance against a GT350R around a track.

The Z28Rs in the CTSCC also have had some heavy restrictions placed on them between Sebring and Watkins Glen. 200lbs of ballast in pass seat area. 2 intake restrictions that puts them down to 60mm. Ride height up to 4 inches while everyone else is at 3.5
Mike Johnson at Stevenson jokes that they don't even have to jack the car to get under it.

Ford is spending twice as much in R&D than GM, My GT350 order is waiting on my Salesmen's desk waiting for the day he can submit it.

Wait till they add weight and take power away from it.

Yes...this is my problem with the series. If it's only about the drivers, then they should all be driving the same car spec'd out. It should be all out. This would make the cars better to compete, not worse to compete.

Subjective, therefore should not be used in a discussion about performance. Which one has better aesthetics does not impact either cars ability to go around a track.
