At least it's mounted in the same place as on the '14-'15 vehicles. Previously, they'd drill holes in the painted section of the bumper and install it there.
On my '14, the dealer had already installed it, since it was dealer inventory, but it was only in the lower plastic unpainted section - a $60 part online.
