How's the exhaust note??

To all of you lucky people currently driving your new Camaros, how is the exhaust note on the SS? Word in the press has been that it's quiet, not mean sounding, blah blah blah. I have yet to be able to drive one at my local dealer, so I'm curious as to how quiet this exhaust note actually is on the SS's. Hell, how is it on the LT's for that matter??

My opinion...cruising and driving below 3k rpm's it is quiet but once you open it up or run it above 3k, it sounds mean...JMHO...BTW, I drive a 2SS M6...

I'll agree...very tame sounding exhaust. I think there will be few if any OEM exhaust systems on the SS models...just very tame for a muscle car!

Way to quiet. I removed the mufflers and dynoed to find that I gained 17 hp. Look for the thread. The car sounds good now. Factory these cars come with 4 cats 2 resonators, and 2 mufflers that weigh 14 lbs each. Removing them gives a pleasent sound while cruising and a mean grawl when you mash it. It only cost $100 as well which isn't very bad for the gain.

I like it

I have to climb a hill to get to my house, one way up has a median with thick landscaping, I can't stop driving up that way with the windows down, sunroof open and stereo off! I think it sounds excellent! Freeway speeds are few and far between but up the mountain passes it also sounds very good to me. Also it is anywhere from 4800 feet in the valleys to 7500 feet on the passes around here, I can't wait to rip around at sea level someday.

Way too quiet from the factory. The bark doesn't match the dog.

My exhaust will get changed within the first 3 days.

EXHAUST SOUNDS

Has anyone heard the GM replacement exhaust that is offered in the accessory site. I was wondering if that system gives the SS a mean growl. Please let me know if you've heard one Thanks

This is all subjective. I personally am going to hear many different setups before I do anything which includes doing nothing at all. Do NOT make a decision based on what someone says. You may find yourself very disappointed. Me personally, I do like how the stock exhaust can be very tame, but open it up and it does sound very nice. I have more of a problem with the way the mufflers look. Way to freaking big and you can see
them very easily. Not a fan of that.

Im interested in knowing too. I'd kinda like to get it straight from the factory if it's a good sound.

That's my biggest complaint about the entire car...I have no idea what anyone was thinking sticking those HUGE canisters on there!

WTF?

Mine will be changed if for no other reason!!

Thumbs up

I've heard a 2SS/RS and it is tame. Which is too bad.
But, a lot of people will be modding their cars anyways.
