Why is the term "Maro" frowned upon, while "Stang" is accepted?
I've noticed that mustang drivers have no problem calling their cars "stangs", while some Camaro drivers on the other hand hate it when you call their car a "Maro".
Why is that? |

Maro just sounds weird to me. Stang I have noticed has been around a long time.
I remember when I bought my Terminator and people were calling them "termi's." Now that is annoying!

I find stang as repulsive..........well that might be a bit harsh so lets say..........slangly, in as much as referring to Camaro as Maro. and I would suggest this opinion is as unbiased and objective as one might be, being I own both. On the other hand its your ride, nickname it anything you choose............Its all good!
On a side note: I do not, nor have I ever found reason to relabel my wife.........by referring to her as , my old lady, my bioch or any other inappropriate name.....I dearly respect her identity as I would my own mothers characterization, and that is simply, Mom. Whether standing in my household or public.........I'm still referred to as Daddy by my children and my kids range upwards in age into their 30's. I suppose each of us look at things a bit different............It may be a generational thing regarding the definition of things familar to us. A Camaro's a Camaro...........a apples a apple, right is always right and so forth............ |

I agree. Maro just doesn't sound right.
Mustang - 2 syllable word. (Stang = 1 syllable and sounds okay). Camaro - 3 syllable word (Maro = 2 syllables and doesn't sound right). |

Because mustang drivers have no morals.
I only use maro if im typing something to shorten it up in a text message or email or something. and dont tell me im only saving 2 letters because everyone type "u" instead of "you" to save two letters, etc. But I would never call my car that and mean it, or say it outloud. I dont like stang either. |

Because the word Camaro is beautiful and fun.
It also sounds awkward because you're leaving off the first syllable. Most nicknames exist to remove the majority of syllables, not knock off the front and leave the majority of the word. |

Just listen to it when someone says it. It just doesn't sound right... Besides, the first place my mind goes to is "bone marrow" and that's a weird association to make every time I would say it lol

Because Camaro is 'class' and means friend or comrade. Stang is short for rust bucket.
