Is this car worth $45K - 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Has the 1971 Z28 prices gone up this much, I remember a while back you could pick one up for much less.

The first gens are priced at insane levels. The flood of "investment reality restoration auction" mania has now spilled into the 1970s cars.

Sit back and watch the 70 year old greasy fat guys with pinky rings and trophy wives throw 500% more money at these cars than they're worth during Barrett-Jackson auctions. This comes free of charge.

Yes the second gen cars prices are skyrocketing! That seems on the high side from what I've seen. There are some beautiful car going between $20-$30.

That car has been on AZ CL along with a couple other 2nd gens for a bit
Is it worth it? With the low 4,862 z28 produced "because of the auto strike that year" these cars are getting harder to find. -- reference http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro71.html

Even when you find one having a full restoration done is sometimes never ending.
At this price point the original docs have to be in order.

Hagerty evaluation tool says this car could be close as #2 and worth it as a #1 car.

IMHO at this price point it's missing the one important thing most people want.
The split bumper RS front end.

Yes most remember the 72 strike that almost KILLED THE CAMARO.
Actually there was also a strike that impacted the 1971 - Personally I was only in first grade so that's what wikipedia says anyway

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrol...ond_generation)

1971: Production and sales dropped due to a 67-day corporate-wide strike at GM that coincided with the introduction of the 1971 models in late September 1970, along with a continued declining interest in the ponycar market fueled by skyrocketing insurance rates for high-performance cars. Rumors of the possible cancellation of the Camaro after 1972 began to surface and were nearly confirmed a year later when another worker's strike hit the assembly plant at Norwood, Ohio, which was the only plant building Camaros and Firebirds.

The 1972 Camaro suffered two major setbacks. The UAW strike at a GM assembly plant in Norwood disrupted production for 174 days, and 1,100 incomplete Camaros had to be scrapped because they could not meet 1973 federal bumper safety standards. Some at GM seriously considered dropping the Camaro and Firebird altogether,[5] particularly while the corporation was under pressure to adapt its vast number of makes and models to difficult new regulations for emissions, safety, and fuel economy.

To use the cliche, its "worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it".

That having been said, Ive seen some really BOSS looking Gen 1s and 2s for less.
