What type of track? Drag? If your doing twisters with other cars, tape up your front end and the area in front of your back tires with blue painters tape to help stop paint damage.

This would be important to know.

O.P.
But whether you have an auto or a manual, just take it easy on the launch. Don't try to kill it off the line. Just leave the line in a controlled manner so you don't spin leaving the line (which is what most first timers do at the track).

In that case, put blue tape on the panels behind the rear tires. Rubber is a pain in the but to clean off. The tape comes off much easier.

I like cruising around town with thick back rubber behind the rear wheels. Kinda says "thats right, I went drag racing this weekend". Reminds me of a long time ago walking around HS with a hickie on my neck.... "thats right, I had fun this weekend" haha.
