Best way to launch with automatic transmission?

Ok, I know how to launch the hell out of my 1993 A4 Z28. But I cannot get a good launch with the A6 with traction control on or off. Has anyone had the chance to find out the best setting and RPMs for launcing the A6? I am racing my buddy in his Challenger R/T tomorrow night at the track and I will let the Camaro community down big time if I can't figure this out.

That's what I've been doing but it launches so slow. I think I need to be at 2500 rmps or more with the brake applied.

Are you launching with TC and stabilitrack off?

I finally figured it out. Just had to get the TC off and rev to 2,500 rpms. The traction control and stbiltrack were confusing me and only let me rev to just over 1,000rpms.

All Automatics come with what is called TORQUE MANAGMENT !!!!!!! it bogs down our A6's from out of the hole and basically makes us feel we bought a lemon. This new Camaro has it very badly and so does the Vette ( basically every car with the A6 automatic has it very bad ) Get your car tuned that turns it off and watch this car screamed.

My brother did this with his Vette and I just did this with my Camaro and WOW

This new Camaro is fast but a dog with a board in its ass from the factory.
Get it tuned and watch the first gear 4.03 show you how it screams out of the hole.


best way to launch it after a tune....... drop it back into M the car does not start in 2nd it starts in 1st after a tune. Turn on the traction control or it will spin tires like crazy and mash on the pedal and hold on lol TRUST ME.

The car starts in 1rst gear in S-mode, you don't have to be in M-mode. I ran at the track last night and the best 60' time I had was 2.147. It was so hot and humid though, real nasty last night. My best run was 13.8 but I walked by friend's Challenger R/T every run. There was a Charger SRT8 with Magnaflo's running 13.9s.

I plan on getting the car tuned soon, but first I'd like to know if I'm getting everything out of it now.

What are the stock shift points in s-mode when WOT? Are the optimal or will I get a little more in m-mode but I'm afraid of hitting the rev limiter. Also, my car shifts into 4th before the end of the 1/4, is this normal?

race 1: 2.259 [60'] 14.001 [1/4] 102.60 [mph]
race 2: 2.177 [60'] 14.015 [1/4] 102.17 [mph]
race 3: 2.200 [60'] 13.860 [1/4] 102.66 [mph]


The 60' times and mph are nearly identical so I don't know why I was quicker in race 3.

I have been playing with this and with some good advice from Scott@Bjorn3D.

Launch control is great in competitive mode if you account for the lag time. When you let off the brake - it actually takes a half a second to launch. However, if you want more control - push and hold the tcs button for about 6 seconds, it disables traction control and stabilitrak and you can do whatever you want - burn outs, run it up on the torque converter for launch, etc. This is what I will be doing as I don't like the delay in the launch control.
