Put 87 miles on her last night and stalled her 4 times. This sucks!!!!!!!

Is the HSA (Hill Stall Assist) problem happening mostly when you are getting under way gently or when your trying to move away quickly?

I can see how starting off from a stop quickly could more likely beat the brake hold delay time. If a driver is trying to get rolling quickly, say, to move into traffic, this would be the worst time to have the system cause the engine to stumble or stall, not that there is ever a good time.

Had it activate on flat ground today pulling out of a gas station.

Loving the 2014 SS non RS more and more. My mind is made up. I WILL order a 2014 if they fix this. I WILL NOT if they don't. At least get rid of the ridiculous two second timer. Who came up with this "idea"?

Hope it doesn't take someone getting hurt (or worse) to get the suits to listen.

I have a question for some of the guys that are having problems with this. Are you guys coming up to the engagement point and then adding gas, or are you doing this simultaneously? I'm asking because some of the people that are not having an issue with HSA are adding gas while coming up to the clutch's bite point. It may just be a difference in driving style that's causing you to stall, but I'm not saying that one is better than the other. And as far as it engaging on flat ground, there's definitely something wrong there.

Just for my information, of the people who are having issues with HSA:

do most (or do you) have a lot of experience driving a manual (maybe stuck in their ways and not able to change their clutch timing and engagement habits)

Or, are most newer to manual (say under 5 years of driving manual cars) and just have a hard time with making it work?

Or is the HSA issue across the board happening to both experienced and less experienced drivers of manual gearboxes?

You shouldn't have to "game" your car. You should just be able to drive it like you normally do.

The other day I was rolling up a hill and just passed an intersection when I noticed that the next intersection was blocked. I just pushed in the clutch and let the car roll backwards until I could turn left on the intersection that I had passed. I never placed the car in reverse, just rolled backwards. As soon as i came to a complete stop, I put it in first and revved a bit because of the hill. HSA was the last thing on my mind... Well, when I released the clutch, no movement, just kind of a thud as I had hit the brake pretty hard. Remembering the numerous articles on here and noting a vehicle rapidly approaching behind me, I pulled up one click on the parking brake and HSA was gone and I proceeded on my way. My only reminder driving on was the ugly smell of smoked clutch that I hardly ever get since break-in.

I can live with HSA, but I wish GM could retro-actively tune it out upon consumer request. I would still buy my car today and someday when I trade her in for a new one, I'll get a Camaro HSA or not.

As is says, "Tara loves Camaros!"

I am subscribed to this thread in hopes of solutions or workaround.
Everyone gets that it sucks for many and works for a few.
Until we get a solution, can we list off the current workarounds from the previous 93 posts?

If pulling up one click on the handbrake releases the HSA from holding the brakes, then fooling the handbrake switch into thinking the handbrake is on will keep the HSA system from activating in the first place. Is this right?

Of course, now the handbrake light will be on in the dash, aarrgghhh...! Nevermind.

I went to the same store today and parked in the same spot that I had my HSA engage last time so I purposely noted what I did when I pulled straight up a hill out of the spot.

Clutch in, Start car
Put car in first gear
HSA engages and message appeared on the dash.
With clutch still in I let off the brake and moved foot to the gas.
At the same time I depressed the gas and started to let the clutch out.
HSA instantly disengaged and I pulled away normally......

This is the same experience I had last time in the same spot......I honestly don't see any issue with my HSA as it turned off as soon as I stepped on the gas and it felt like I was on level ground.
