Dss carbon fiber shaft

So, just bought one and stuck it on. Heat shield wont clear. Not a big deal id assume? Any heat issues with carbon drive shafts?

Wow, they were kinda pricey and why I bought the aluminum one. I also had to remove my heat shield to install mine, and from what I have read, you shouldn't have any issues with heat at all, I don't without my shield. Yours will also be kinda quieter than the one I have as the CF will absorb sound whereas my aluminum one reverberates sound from the exhaust pipes.

Yeah a couple positives. Dss claims they can handle over 1k hp as well. Planning for the future lol

These are in my future. Along with Axels, ZL1 rear, and a 6L90.

I trimmed the heat shield back when I put the driveshaft loop in. When I put the aluminum shaft in, the heat shield went back in fine. I've never heard any rattles from the modification.

Excessive heat can and will affect the bonding material. I don't think a moving vehicle will generate enough heat though. Though it’s possible in places like AZ in the summer. 3M makes different bonds for different applications. I'd assume DSS knows that. They use some of the CF tube my old employer sells (Neapco - I've since retired) and our engineers experimented with different bonds.

We learned that the bond area must be practically surgically clean for the best results. I also assume DSS knows that too.

I'm not sure what DSS does but Neapco has different grade "flex" tube available. Some is stiffer than others. Some guys talked about the flexy stuff giving them a better launch. It might be worth asking DSS.
