GAS WTF?

So I saw Friday that 91 octane gas at my local Chevron was 3.79 and I had a bit over half a tank, which I usually fill up around there to be safe, but I decided to get it the next day. Big mistake, Saturday I took my lunch and see that gas at the same station has gone up to 4.69! Even the Arco gas was 4.29. Since then it's only gone up, but gaspredictor.com says it should go down 2 cents a day, while other sources have said it will go up 7 cents a day

And the only excuse for rising gas prices is supposedly that the summer fuel reserves are low? Such, BS, oil prices are still extremely low and yet we're paying more for gas now than we did for the last 2 summers? This is crazy, CA sucks. I also heard gas taxes are supposed to rise 17 cents, the reason being that the taxes on gas haven't gone up in a few years... As if that's a valid reason

Sorry needed to vent after driving through Valencia and seeing both the Chevron and Arco dealerships at 4.89/4.79. Still haven't gotten gas... that's over $80 for a tank. Come on...
Is it like this in northern CA too?

Luckily I filled up on Friday... Gonna need gas later this week due to my heavy foot. This is insane though!

Wow, that sucks. Regular here in AR is $2.32 at some places, with premium as low as $2.56. Average regular is probably $2.50 and premium around $2.80.

I saw on the news that independently owned stations are going to have the higher jump in prices here in CA

Thanks again for the heads up on that Devin. I saw that you posted about the Airstrip Attack. Are you looking to run on it or just go as a spectator?

Not sure yet. Maybe as a spectator until i get more stuff done. There is other airstip events with cars that are more reasonable to go up against.. lol 600+ at the wheels isn't much for these kind of events.. Need more like 1000+ from what I've been reading. Kinda like that supra at HRE ;]. But it would be a lot of fun to go and spectate..

Welcome to California. That jump is your friendly refinery company passing along one of California's new tax/pollution initiative. Check the news. State legislature pass a new hit on refinery's. Each year refinery's have to bid on pollution chits... lamen version is the right to pollute the air. That extra cost is now ours to bear at the pump. This new initiative went active Jan 1st 2015. California leaders are attempting to force Gas production companies to produce cleaner fuels by hitting them with higher costs to pollute. It's hoped that consumers will pressure these companies to produce those fuels "in the hopes of reducing California's fuel cost. Problem is, even if the refinery's do produce these cleaner burning fuels, state leaders have no plan in place to make provide relief at the pump. Now I'm all about protecting the environment and belive it's time for us to break free of fossil fuels ot better produce cleaner fuels. However to hit California with an avarge 30 to 50 cent hit at the pump over night and call it an environmental initiative all the while have no plan to relive the consumer if gas companies improve is crap.

I love the prices but I can't stand that line. There's always 20+ cars waiting per pump at my local Costco whether it's the weekend or weekdays, no matter the time I seem to show up, and it's out of the way by 25 minutes.

When I was in Oregon they pumped my gas for me and for $2.00 cheaper than I'm paying for now. Shame... I'm gonna have to fill up some 55 gallon drums next time I go to Vegas!

I always see a huge line of people waiting to get gas from Costco when I drive by. That's insane people would wait that long to fill up!
