Does unplugging the actuator help? Any negatives besides having no control over temp?

I get why people who were faced with the exorbitant cost of replacing a blend door do this but all I can say is, there is no negative - if you live and drive your Camaro near the equatorial latitudes.

I don't really use the HVAC, If I do it is the AC. I have 6 Vehicles to use, This one is only used in perfect weather.

Well, I’ve finally gotten to the broken blend door condition. (they all do that)

Without hesitation I’m going to dive in and do the cut the box hack. I’ve studied that procedure with detail, the only alteration will be adding a couple of additional small tabs at the bottom of the cutout for support when it’s back in.

While I have the drivers seat out I think I will fix the broken wires on the backrest heating element (they all do that)

In about 80,000 miles since I’ve had it and a total of right at 140,000 that’s all that has ceased to function.

I do not miss working on my car ever other day to commute or go somewhere like I did with those damn BMWs!

Its too bad GM didn't put a door in the side of the case where you could just open the door and replace the blend door. But I guess they didn't foresee what was going to happen. That would of been in a perfect world.

The trouble with the hack is YOU still know it’s there. But I’ve had several things happen to the car over 7 years that I’ve simply had to ‘get over.’

If you use hvac tape to seal the hack panel cut then you can just pull it off if you ever need to again replace the blend door.

Blend door hack done, in the process of fixing the broken drivers seat heating wire. It was broken exactly where the innerwebs said it would be!

they all do that you know.

Aoi am assuming since I really haven't gotten an answer that unplugging blend door motor will stop door from moving without causing any other issues.
