WHAT IS THIS?

*** Updated Video: ticking from interior...is this normal?
https://youtu.be/WM7ZgkIjwbc

Video of cold start (Noise stops at 34 second mark)
https://youtu.be/ne_TpzLLTWo

I've searched every possible combination of keywords with no luck on finding a resolution. 2018 ZL1 with a metallic/rattle noise while under load/light acceleration (around 2.5k RPM). The noise is easily heard within the cabin and is not constant - increases with RPM. My local dealership just replaced cam and lifters because of this rattle - vehicle returned and the noise still exists. Noise also occurs during cold start. No rattle or abnormal noise while in neutral.

Another Update: I've had the vehicle for 1 week post cam/lifter replacement. Vehicle had to be towed back to dealership today. Transmission fluid leaking/spraying everywhere, right behind front passenger wheel. Fun times.

You can’t really tell much from that video imo

I think I can hear it- kind've of a tick-a-tick-a-tick-a that seems to diminish in loudness as she warms up? Seems to stop by the end of the video.
I think traditionally its assumed to be a lifter, but I dunno what else it could be.
Good luck.

Correct - tick/noise diminishes and no longer heard right around 33-34 second mark

My 2017 ZL1 has the same sound as yours when warming up from a cold start. Don’t think we have an issue here but could be wrong.

Not sure I can hear the sound your describing but I recall a post about an elusive engine noise ending up being the idler pulley. Try doing some research on that, there are some videos out there to see if it sounds similar.

I can’t hear any abnormal noise either. I say keep driving it and maybe the issue will show up eventually as it might be hard to diagnose now. Good luck.

Lt4 hit the nail. Drive it until you can easily replicate an obvious sign of an issue to a dealer or shop is probably your best bet. Good luck and I hope it’s small potatoes!

At this point I would just take a bag of money and the car and drop it off at vengeance racing. You will get it back with lots more power and completely sorted out. Letting the dealer monkeys keep putting their ham fists on it is going to get you no where.
