Just installed a Revelco in mine yesterday after getting my 2016 Stingray stolen 3 weeks ago, and I believe its money well spent... IMO

To the best of knowledge there isn't currently a wireless attack on the CAN bus at least for the Camaro. Key cloning/relay attacks may the items being discussed which you are referring to, where the thieves just copy the signals from your key fob.

So with either a clone/relay or programing new keys, need to make sure that whatever being used for theft prevention/deterrence assumes the thief has a valid key at their disposal.

Your installer will load the right firmware and setup.

Here is a nice video that shows some of the basic operation on a camaro.

Also here is what it looks like if you get the anti-carjacking option and someone were to steal your car

Thank you roostere4

Thanks for the reply, this makes me feel a little better. I'm still going with the multilayered protection (no start relay, turning off the keyless entry, OBD lock, maybe even investing in a club or digging out my old one from the 90s lol) to try and deter/prevent theft. Then again, I've resigned myself to not taking the car and parking it places. It's not my DD anyway, and I know others don't have the luxury of keeping it in the garage, but I'm keeping mine tucked away unless I am going to be *driving* it.

I would just get a Revelco and not worry about it getting stolen unless the tow it. If they go that route, nothing will stop them short of something more extreme.

I live in the sleepy suburbs and all the left open cars on our street got rummaged through, my son lost a laptop and some change, but ours were locked and they got nothing. We don't leave stuff out in our cars, I'd heard that helps.

This!

I bought it a few weeks ago and wanted to give it some time before reporting back. I am really impressed with it. Two thumbs up.

It was fast & easy to install and it's effective. Automatically activates 30 seconds after you shut down so no remembering. You can install it in multiple relay positions on the 6th Gen. You'll have to guess where its installed.

Customer support was great, too. I had a problem with the first one being "glitchy". Front the start, It didn't always let me start the car. I'd have to "play with it" with multiple tries to get the car to start. I was really disappointed. Put new batteries in the remote, etc. No help.

They called me back, listened to my issue. Said they have never had any problems with one before. Then they found an employee with a 6th Gen and went out to the parking lotto play with it on his Camaro and then called me back. They said it was not doing that on his car and mine should not be doing that. They took a new one, double checked it on the test equipment, and then sent it out to me. I installed the new one about three weeks ago and it has worked perfectly since. I highly recommend!

I think Revelco is a decent deterrent, but won't stop a somewhat competent thief with access and some additional time. There aren't as many circuits being interrupted as believe, think it's just 2 in fact. Plus even though the wires are non-descript, when you tie into the fuse box not too hard to match up the original wires

Plus for me I wouldn't use this as primary due to the loss of the convience or remote start. And personally think the plug is ugly

Thanks for writing up your experience and impressions!
So glad to hear the company stands behind it's products and provides such good support.

I've been thinking about adding one as another layer in my defensive plan for when I want to be extra sure.

Got a couple of questions though of you don't mind,
How much does the relay actually look stock when installed? Wondering how well it blends in, or if it sticks out a lot?

Last question I know neither app or fob remote start work when this is armed, as it is obviously blocking the start. But wondering what the range of the key fobs for this was? Thought I saw someone saying another thread 5 to 10 feet, but that seemed rather short. Hopefully it's a bit longer than that.

I’m guessing it’s designed to be short range so you basically have to jump in your car before you can activate the relay.

yes i guess so, i'll get more info in a few months when car is out of storage.

still think this is a great solution. this or IGLA. this is just 1/3rd of IGLA cost

The color is similar but it stands apart from the markings on the factory relays. I bought a spare factory relay to see if I could swap cases out to help the immobilizer blend in more.

Also, the concept of OBD port locks got me thinking about ways to "lock down" the fuse box lid. No specific ideas beyond thinking about the general concept.

I like the idea of locking down the fuse box lid. Maybe Using some type of security screw like they use for the obdii port locks?
