No header for the LFX=FAIL Just kidding but you LFX guys have some things ahead of us like the option for EFI live as we speak and 11 more hp from factory. More factory HP is always good. Give it some time and there will be tons and tons of parts for you LFX peoples. and almost forgot, you guys can go from gas to e85 as you wish and your ecm will adjust for it. Can't get better than that. Factory e85 tune is very conservative. |

So did the 2012 LFX get a new manual transmission? Or is it still that problematic AY6?

General rule of thumb is 20% loss for the automatic. 15% for the manual.

Nothing to report...if there were GM would be tooting there own horn. They tooted when the engine was taken apart outside of the car but when its in the engine bay not a peep.

Where did you hear this? Manual doesn't say it can run E85. All vehicles I have seen that can run E85 say so on the cap.

I went out this morning and used my g meter for a few 0-60 runs and I got it down to a best of 5.65 sec. The rest were 5.7ish. The car has 900 miles and it was on the 60s with decent humidity this morning. That was on a concrete surface with traction control off in manual mode letting the car shift itself. Don't bother doing a run on anything other than concrete because the numbers will be all over the place.....toooo much wheelspin even with a V6..lol. I had used the g meter to measure other cars and it seems to be dead on as long as you use the same starting technique, similar conditions, ect. Alot of classic small block and several big block owners would kill for mid-5 to low-6 0 to 60 sec runs. Not bad for a loaded 220 cube engine that gets 30 mpg. My 455 GSX with 235 more cubes doesn't want to talk about little bro' stealing his thunder. Now in the 1/4 mile...............I don't think I want to talk about it either.

Every run I've ever done with TC off ended early because the wheelspin basically killed the run. I've gotten a 5.8 with Torque for my Android (I feel like the car should be good for better than that) but I always loose at least a few tenths because the wheels spin...TC kicks in to correct it and then she takes off. With TC off my best runs were in the mid 6s. How do you hook up with TC off? Do you heat up your tires first with a little burn off? lol

No burnout....just floored it off idle. Every time I tried to flash the convertor the run would be about a half sec. slower. As I said find a concrete bridge. Aphault will result in excessive spinning and slow times. Drag strips are concrete for the first 1000 ft or so for a reason.

None so far. I have been using 93 super but I don't see that being a factor. The only mod I may do later is find some SS mufflers in the classified section. The car needs some more sound. The other runs were in the 5.71-5.78 range so I would go with that as the more accurate number for my car that day in those conditions. Other A6 cars should be maybe a tenth faster or slower close in similar conditions. Now the 1st run I ever did was a 6.1 but I tried to flash the converter but the wheelspin slowed me down and it also bogged a little when it hooked up. The rest of the runs were flooring it just off idle. Like I said before on concrete the wheelspin is not a factor but starting on the road surface the car is atleast a half second slower. Now compared to my Moms '10 A6 SS my car will just go without much drama while hers will spin several feet using the same starting technique on the same concrete bridge. I got a best of 5.10 out of hers with some practice. That is about right since the L99 is about 70 hp stronger with everything else being similar (both weigh about the same, both are A6 equipped, both have same wheel/tire combination.
Also the nearest airport is about 30 mi away and it is listed at 919 ft above sea level and where I live is about 150-200 feel lower. Last edited by carguyusa; 06-03-2012 at 03:31 PM. |

I have the time slips and videos in my profile. All motor 14.30@98 mph when it was stock. Nitrous run 100HP shot 13.17 @106MPH ( lack of traction with the spray ),now has GMPP mufflers and CAI intake, and Trifecta Tune. Going to get some drag radials and I'll be in the 12s.
