Had a guy yesterday at a car show tell me that he ordered a Camaro a year and a half ago at the auto show and he put money down but wouldn't get it till next year. He ordered an SS/RS, which won't be out till '11 and it's loaded so it comes with 468 hp. He also told me his friend just ordered a vert and put $15,000 down on it. I had to walk away from him.

I was at a cruise in with my 2010 SS this past Friday when a gentleman mentioned that his brother just ordered one, but "he ordered the one with the V-10".

I think that the internet has basically only let the informed people know they're in a BS storm, not prevented it from taking place. The cloud obviously still exists based on all of the posts in this thread. It's just that those of us who care to educate ourselves now easily recognize the BS when it rains down on us and we can seek shelter from the stupidity before it ruins our clothes.

Last night my roommate and i went out to dinner at Perkins it was about midnight (way earlier than we normally go) and a bunch of high school kids were sitting behind us. They were loud and obnoxious and pretty much idiots. They get around to talking about cars and one of the kids talks about how sweet the new mustangs look and the leader of the group says "they're okay but the new Camaros are SWEET." At this point i'm thinking hey, maybe they're not so bad. Then he says "The base models are only 16k. And the SS is about 25k" My roommate who isn't a car person herself but knows enough about Camaros since i compare every car ever to it started laughing uncontrollably. Then the kid goes on to list all these horribly wrong facts about it, like how it weighs 3300lbs and the base model can run a 12 second 1/4 mile. I mean he was talking it up and all but get it right kid! I didn't correct him cause i didn't wanna risk them talking to us later since we hadn't even gotten our food yet, but it was hard to sit through.

I've posted this before, but thought it worth mentioning again. Went to a local dealer about a month ago. He showed my son and I a 2SS that had come in the night before. I asked him about the Hurst shifter, and he says that it is not available yet (which turned out correct). I asked him about the RS package, and he says it is not available on the V8 . Looking at the interior, I then asked about the ABL, and he says the car doesn't have it (more ). Mind you, this car had the IOM SS interior. After that, he informs me that the car is going for $5k over sticker, and he was going to wait til the price came down. I thanked him and left, wondering how some salesmen can be so uninformed

Last night after going to see movie(Hangover......extremely funny if you haven't seen it yet) stopped by to see a Yellow Camaro that the dealer actually left outside. This is 10 at night. A beautiful shelby mustang pulls up, gets out and starts looking(I went to his car to check it out) and we start talking.
I can tell he is a little "off". He proceeds to tell me how great gas mileage the 4 cylinders get, but he's waiting for them to come out with a V8 engine before he gets his Camaro. Now we are standing there looking at an SS, with a window sticker, which he has already read.

At this point, I'm ready to get a tire iron and steal his Shelby just out of principle.

I own a motorsports shop and deal with BS everyday, so long ago I stopped trying to correct people.....I just listen and laugh.
