Mine has a small crack like that. No other marks that would lead one to believe that I had hit anything. The other night I creamed a raccoon, and that did not even leave a mark, though. I think it might be a weak spot in the plastic.

I'm wondering if these cracks are caused by the dealer not installing the splitter properly to begin with?

That's also very possible; they are very easy to get over-torqued. All these splitters are installed by the dealer so the cars can get loaded/unloaded during the delivery transportation, right? I have a feeling that they would not leave a splitter install job to a master technician

Those are stress fractures, caused by heat most likely from the factory. Before someone flames me this is my occupation. If you want to stop the checks, use the smallest drill bit possible at the end of the opening.

Even if it wasn't your profession, this is the most plausible explanation.

So I wait 2 weeks for the splitter to come in. I go to the dealer today to get it installed...

And they ordered the wrong dam part!

Argh.

I didn't even ask. They had egg on their face and couldn't apologize enough. Honest mistake and they always treat me right. I just hope it isn't another two weeks!

Mine is being replaced under warranty, no questions asked, no pushback. Dealership said they would place part order today.

It looks like stress cracks of some sort and since they were on both sides I thought I may have found something.

Hopefully someone else will chime in that has the cracks, but I might be relegated to living with it for now and replacing it down the road when I actually do go too fast over a bump and really bang it up!

Thanks guys for the responses. Even X25!
Just don't do what I did.
