My rub mark

I have been watching the forums since I joined about a month ago, which is when i picked up my new 2012 2SS Convertible. I have seen many pictures of rub marks but not sure anyone has this one and how I should handle it?

Here is a picture of the rub mark. Its on the driver side.

It seems to be rubbing from touching the lip around the rear/trunk area.

Help? Do i dare let the dealer touch it with all the horror stories out there?

for what it's worth, I've noticed my top hits the lip around the edge too... I always wondered if that would effect anything. I haven't noticed any marks/damage from it so I haven't addressed it...

I've got one there also - it almost looks like it's pressing on the corner of something. This is my 2d convertible top.

Does anyone know if these rub marks have been addressed either by Chevrolet or here in one of the forums?

OP, you are absolutely correct. That mark (and often a very similar one over the passenger side) are in fact caused by rubbing exactly where you point it out. I have both sides on mine and the driver side one is so bad that I figure I have maybe 3 more months before it is a hole. to my knowledge, GM has yet to adress this rub mark. If you use a tonneau cover, it will prevent further damage on that spot, but I have a few rub marks caused by the tonneau cover itself.

In other words, good luck...

i do as drago does, i know its a $40,000 car but it sure helps mine! i use blue painters tape on each rub spot i have, which is about 4 spots on each side, so 8 pieces of tape when i put it down, also put a piece of felt over the top after its down, and tuck it in around the sides before putting the tonneau cover on! a couple pieces of tape on each trip will have rub marks on it or what looks like where its rubbed the color off the tape, so it got the tape and not my top, its stupid but it works. on short trips with the top down i just use the felt and the tonneau cover. easier to do this then to let them screw the top up at the dealer.

Are you having a concern with rub marks on your Camaro? If you would like me to check your VIN for any applicable warranties or recalls, I will be more than happy to do so.

I took look at my top after having it down on the ride home yesterday and I have these same marks. I took a very quick look at my car with the top half up/down and I could not really see from the pic but could the marks be being made by the water bag/mechanism mounting bolts that are in the top well? I noticed that on the corners were the well starts to turn at the rear quarter panel that the bolts stick into the well farther then the rest of them and seem to be in the same area as the marks. As my marks seem to be 1.5 inches long and made a quarter wide it could be from the top shaking side to side in the well. Granted I looked really quick because I had someplace to get to so I am not 100% certain that is it.
