question on gearing
here in ny speed limit is 65 on highway, well i like to keep it at 73-74mph. In 5th gear it runs just over 2k RPMs and 6th gear just under 2k rpms at like 1800. Granted 6th gear doesnt have any power, but just wondering if this is the best for gas mileage.

you can cruise at 50 in 6th if you want. 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears so you will not get any power in either really.

In my experience, the lower the rpm's the better the mileage. I've actually run at 40mph in 6th on flat ground. The LS3 has so much low end torque it doesn't bog unless you floor it at low rpm's.
I don't want to reset my mpg gauge on the DIC because I'm working on comparing actual mpg vs DIC indicated mpg on this tank. But I'm guessing below 50 in 6th you would probably see over 30mpg. |
