Lower Front Drivers Seat

I am interested in having the front seat lowered to the floor, has anyone done this or know if it can be done. I cannot sit comfortably in the car with a helmet on.

Have you adjusted the seat height? I know I bought mine and it was set up perfectly so I never tried adjusting it until my first track day. Reason, with the helmet on I was hitting the roof with it. I didn't have the owners manual with me so I lived with it because no one else could figure out how to lower it.

Later I read the manual and figured out how to do that. So now it goes as low As I need it for track days.

I have had my seats apart and you could easily have the bottom cushion shaved thinner to sit you lower too.

I'm in the same boat. I hunch down in the seat, not comfortable, but no other options.
I went so far as to try and make some brackets to remove the seat sliders, but couldn't make it work.

Didn't think of having a thinner seat cushion made. May have to look into that.

I am considering a Kirkey or Butler built aluminum seat just for track days. Anyone else done this?

Make sure you are completely up to date with the rules of Organization you track with. If you run an aftermarket seat you'll have to get a 5 or 6 point aftermarket belt. I learned that the hard way. It's definitely for your own safety but sucks to hear it on track day.

That was a hard lesson to learn. It defeats the purpose of a race seat to use a three point stock seat belt. So much better having that anti submarine belt in a race seat. It definitely holds you in place when under a heavy braking. Schroth makes a street legal 4 point detachable belt. I used them with great success on another car that I did a track day with years ago. This time around nothing but 5 point belts and a Hans device.

Yes indeed. The Recaros are great but a purpose built race seat keeps you planted. I never tried a Hans. Maybe in the future.
