Illuminated bowtie brightness

Just had the dealer install an illuminated bowtie. First thing I do when I go to pick it up is turn on the headlights expecting a glow akin to the running light LED's, instead I see nothing. Grab the kid at the desk and tell him it's now working, he looks agrees and gets the tech. Tech cups his hands over it and says it's on, has me do the same then turns off the lights and I do see it WAS on but it's really dim.

Should I be able to see the illumination during an overcast day or are they really so dim they can only be seen at night?

The one on my Silverado is the same(and coincidentally enough, I did the same thing...i thought it wasn't working when i went out to see it during the day. Just a LED glow that you really only see at late-dusk or at night only. I'm ok with not seeing it on during the day. Just my opinion though. . Sorry for the sideways pic .

Mine is fairly dim, the frame from one of my dyno videos below is representative. There have been revisions since 2018 when I bought it, so newer ones may be somewhat brighter.

I for one like that it's subtle, because I don't want the bowtie to compete with the DRLs. It's an accent that is very much visible at and after dusk, but doesn't try to be one of the main lights during the day.

To anyone who has installed one of these, where does it plug into and is it easy to access? Mine came with one but it's not my cup of tea. Anyone looking to trade for a regular blackout bowtie?

It plugs into one of the lower drls if I remember correctly. Gotta reach under lower fender liner and connect it. I had one and it was dim, in daylight you can't see it, at night, I'd guess maybe 25% brightness of the drls.

I figured it out, some people have aftermarket ones that glow brighter.
