Did you purchase your car from a dealer? I would start there before taking anything apart. When I took delivery of my car I had one key that would not stay shut - the dealership ordered me a new one - so now I have 3 keys.

I would try and blow it out with some compressed air first, and if that works even a little put some graphite in there and blow it out again after cycling it a few times. Don't use WD40 or anything of the sort as it will attract dust and you'll be even worse off. Best thing may be to take it back to the dealer and have them either swap, or fix it for you.

I would say it is probably covered under warranty. Let the dealer fix or replace it, if you fiddle with it they may not replace it.

Just use the spare one, it's the exact thing, only that one works fine (I imagine). When they fix or replace your broken one just make that your spare.

Its under spring tension. If you take it apart you will see the spring. take the key apart, twist the spring several times and put under load, then put key back together...its a bit tricky but youl get it after a few tries.

It has two small little metal rods that stick out on each side of the spring. one goes into the key fob and locks down between the retainer tabs, the other goes in the small key (very small once you take it apart- just the key that goes in the ignition and the pivoting connection is all the key is made up of.) which also has a retaining tab for the spring. Twist the key around several times, while both ends of the spring are secured in the holders, and then put key back together. Resolved

P.s.- when taking apart, be careful or it will fly apart- take apart slowly!!

If i still had my old camaro i would..waiting on the new one. :(

Biggest thing is just not letting it fly apart- its spring loaded and will if your not careful. Other wise just take note of everything while pulling apart.
