Hate to keep pointing this out but my first car a 1961 Impala (baby blue ragtop ) had a lite to tell you when the oil was low.

Not one person here that reported the low oil issue (that iv'e seen) has seen a warning message/lite and we're talking 3-4 qts low then boom.

Something is wrong here.

Most deffinitly. This is my first car too. I will possibly go through a lot of vehicles in my life and GM I got can't really say you are in my future? I still love mt car and I understand problems happen but maybe atleast GM could stand behind their product.

Preventive maintenance is not a bad thing. It is 2011 and if you don't want to check the oil occasionally then pay someone else to do it, take the bus, or realize stuff can happen.
The fact is that a lot of people don't check their cars out at all. Would you even know if the dealer put in the proper amount of oil?

It's not a bad thing. Check it when you put gas in or work out another system. It's not that hard.

And I agree. They should've stood behind their product.

I always felt that 5w-30 is too thin and causes a dry start after sitting all night draining down into the pan. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely a flaw in the build or design process somewhere....but I just hope these are isolated to a certain # of cars and not the entire LLT fleet (because of a design flaw).

On the other hand, there are V6 owners on this board that have mileage WAY above average and have reported zero problems. I'm just a bit worried that since I don't drive my car often and it has low mileage, that something like this may pop up right when my warranty is over. I can't speak for everyone here, but having to fork out several grand out of my pocket to fix a bum engine is not something I'd take lightly at all. Would put a hell of a dent in other plans.

I haven't heard of anyone mentioning this same flaw in the Acadia or CTS engines, so I'm hoping its an isolated issue!
I'm with you KM, I've got an early 2010 and am finally about to hit 13k miles on it . . .

Literally just walked out of work to go check my oil (despite the fact i last checked it last weekend). I've gone from concerned to paranoid.

The case for the BRZ grows......

Right. I figured I could trust my own dealership. Weather they did or didn't I will never know. I learned a lesson andante expensive one at that. Always check peoples work and don't trust technology.

That's why I started doing my own oil changes now. I know I won't short myself lol. However the downside of doing your own oil changes, you don't really have any good proof that you've changed your oil and the right mileage. I keep my oil receipts when I buy it at auto zone but still..

Yes... they always could be like well you didnt tighten the bolt down all of the way. I see you bought 6 quarts but you probably forgot to put the drain plug back in. They are always one step ahead unfourtently

I don't know if thats a valid reason to void the warranty. Have you modded your car? If not you should still be under waranty.

After I blew my motor I have modded the new one (didn't really like my track times) I put nitrous in and a cold air with flowmaster axel back.
