3.91 installed but it's.... ok.............

its all good! 3.91's rock just don't go expecting to feel the equivalent 50ft lb of tq in the higher rpm band. Lower gears are a low rpm torque monster. a little Google explained all of my initial disappointment.

I find that a little surprising, for sure. I am sure I felt a little something after my gear swap to the 3.45 rear; but, I DID have to install a trifecta tune for the new ratio also.

That is odd, Mine is getting a swap to 3.73 currently. I'll give you my impression when I pick it up next week.

I really wish I could sit here and tell you guys that this was worth every penny but I just can't. I am semi dissapointed. I'm sure I was expecting too much for sure from just seeing how some vendors are so quick to say 40+ torque equivalent feel with 3.73's and blah blah blah, but if you expect to feel like you gained 40+ tq, then you will be dissapointed like me right now. There are some positive side to this install tho..

Cruising on highway in 6th gear is whole lot better. It almost feel like you are cruising in 5th. You catch the power band a little faster and you can def feel more torque but definitely not 40+ as some peoples claim. I would of been happy if this mod was cheaper but def not worth what gear install is worth, and we all know how much that's worth.

Dude that sucks ....I remember the difference and how much more torque I got when I did my swap in my '92 lx 5.0
I swapped my 3.08, for 3.73 and chirped all the way thru 5th

bmore sorry to hear, I was on the fence about this, given what you are saying I rather put that money towards the heads and cams.

Thanks for sharing Jay, and I'm sorry you didn't quite get what you was expecting. Heck I was about to tell you I think the 3.73s would have been enough lol...glad I didn't

That said I can't wait to see what you do on the track with these and your other mods? You still have one of the more badass V6s here on the forums.

Do you expect this to alter your dyno runs at all? I know the dyno should be able to adjust for gear ratio and all that, but I still feel like it could alter things just a bit with the new ratios. Who knows.

I can already chirp 1st and 2nd but I was expecting to be slipping off the road LOL. I guess not really slipping but I really thought 2nd was going to be like 1st, and my 1st was not really fun, It end too fast and I usually go sideways if I don't becareful, so I always avoided 1st even before the 3.91's. 2nd still seem like 2nd, with a little more torque feel, but nothing like what I was expecting.

I really want to hear a review from the 3.73'ers. I don't think no one has ever did a review on 3.73's before.

I don't know what to tell you. I felt a big difference with my gears. Drive your car on a different day in different weather. Sometimes I feel my car runs extremely sluggish on certain days but others its quick.

gzarbek, would you say that you feel 40+ tq with your 3.73's? How would you compare the feel vs the 25mm insulator?

Today was a very windy day so it could have slowed down my acceleration. I guess I will give it some more time before making a full judgement.

Interesting. Well thanks for being a pioneer on this Bmore and definitely thank you for the tip about the shop in Frederick. I'm in NoVA and don't get to MD very often but it's good to know there are some good shops nearby, you ever go to Speed Unlimited by Andrews AFB?

BMore, don't go by the speedo until you get Vince to retune it. Then take it to the track or do some 0-60 runs. You may not feel/percieve it, but I bet that extra torque is there.
