nightvision camera for driveway

so some jealous little bitches keep egging my car, second time in about a month

i'm gonna buy a camera to hang outside my garage that overlooks my driveway and the surrounding sidewalk, i need recommendations of what kind to buy

here's a picture of my driveway i took from inside the garage. normally i park my camaro by the visible curb next to the tree, so they keep egging my driver side

the picture is just meant to show the angle from the garage that i park my car and the distance from my garage to the street

not looking to spend a boatload, something around $100 would probably be ideal

so you took pictures from the inside of your garage? Why do you just park the car in the garage.

been looking at one at best buy for 370, two cameras and it't wireless. might get it in a couple months or so when the weather gets better. I know my neighbor has caught a couple kids snooping around my camaro last summer after dark. lots of punks around the area that have been ripping people off. thinking very seriously about getting a setup in the near future!

Suggest DropCam. It will send motion & noise triggered alerts. Night vision is pretty good too. The camera is about $150 and if you want, their DVR subscription fee is $100 per year.

Get the subscription service to capture the punks on camera. The alerts do lag a bit, so it would be hard to catch them in the act.

There is probably a million different reasons for that. None of which he needs to explain...

Buy a game camera from a sporting goods store. Same thing hunters use. Put it up in the tree looking down at the street next to your car.

i dont understand. if you have a garage, why not park the car in the garage? wouldnt that be alot less stress and work and prevent damage by doing that? clean out the garage if you need to, but seems silly to complain about damage to car parked outside of garage. maybe i am missin something here

Maybe his garage is full of other cars? Maybe he uses his garage as a wood shop? Maybe he is running a small business out of it? Maybe he lets his wife park in the garage? Maybe he has a pet lion that lives in there? Wgas

are you looking for a car camera or a house camera?

I have 12 around my property with the DVR and iPhone app, cost me under $600, records for 2 weeks auto erasing the oldest files, all have night vision, and 2 of the cameras are PTZ with motion detect.. They are very good at seeing moving and locking onto the subject and tracking them.

While the ones I have don't have the option there are some others that have facial recognition and will zoom in on the face and automatically snap a picture of the person.

but now you are talking into the thousands for the cameras.

I have found that just having them is deterrent enough, it was suggested by the installer to install them HIGH and OBVIOUS, and it has worked..

you can buy a simple system with 2 cameras for $350 or so:

The game camera is probably your only option in your price range.
Basically, it will take snapshots of motion like cars driving by and that tree blowing in the wind. No live feed to watch, so you just wait for an event of interest (eggs, break-in, etc.) then you retrieve the memory card and browse through the images it captured around that date/time.
btw- lock the camera case and strap it to something so they dont rip off your camera one day.
The high position suggestion is good for securing the camera, but you may have to retrieve the memory card. Also spiders tend to build webs over the lenses and trigger motion at night. Make sure you can reach them with a broom to swab the cobs.
