Top arms, broke, bent?

So about a month ago, my 1/4 panel popped off when the top was going up, 2nd time in a year.

Dealer replaced it but said the arms or something was broken away from the body and were bent, so do not put the top down.

Their tech was not in to tell them what part was needed until yesterday.

Spoke with him, he told me that this is a problem with the Camaro top mechanism and it happens all the time.

Truthfully, have not seen anyone here complain about it, but he said it comes from putting the top up and down.

I got mine at the end of May 2018, top was replaced in August 2018 (delamination), could this have not been installed properly?

Any ideas?

I have a 2019 that arrived in May. In September the panel on the passenger side that retracts when the top is down got stuck in the open position (it looked like it had come off it's tracks). The dealership ordered a replacement panel, but when it arrived and they tried to do the replacement they said there were some other bent components and they'd need to order those in as well. This sounds almost exactly like what you've experienced, except clearly your dealer has seen this before whereas mine hasn't.

Waiting on the additional replacement parts now. In my case the roof hadn't been replaced before, so I'm not sure if your roof replacement has played any part here. Given the number of reports on this forum about the retractable panels breaking I'm inclined to think there is some sort of quality or design issue with the convertible roof.

I've have a '17 RS Vert. Never had a problem with the top. Torque converter, yes but that's an issue for a different thread.

Don't know what anyone would ever buy a convertible sports car.

Because it is a blast to drive with the top down...

Not so much when things go awry....

If I understand you correctly, you probably do not know enough, people.

Driver side top arms
Remove passenger rear QT panel in order to replace roof roller pull arm and install new parts
Reinstall all.

That is what took 8 days to do...

Amazing pics of your car, both in action, and static. Not to knock anyone else... I would only buy a pop top sports car. Best of both worlds!
