Replacement VIN sticker for door.
Has anyone had body work involving replacing the door? Did they replace the VIN sticker on the door? The body shop got me the tire info sticker that goes above the door striker on the quarter panel but says they can't get the VIN sticker that goes on the door above the door latch.
Anyone know how to get one with the VIN?

Can they add one if its not the original door that came with it? I didnt think they could...since its no longer original?

I believe that's not possible. That's the reason they put them on the car from the factory...to show they are original and belong to the car.

Replacement VIN stickers are not available for obvious reasons.
Might be a source on the black market though. |

I went thru this on my daughter's Cobalt SS. When the door was replaced, with another from a wrecked Cobalt, it was a slight hassle when I traded it away. (The body shop masked around the decals of the replacement door instead of removing them)

The body shop said he can get them from Ford but not from GM. So there is no "obvious" legal reason. It's a GM thing. And I am not talking about the VIN tag on the dash. This is a sticker that is on the door that has GVWR's. It just happens to also have the VIN on it.

GM quit duplicating these stickers to save cost however. I used these guys when I did my 71 and they are exact. I also just got one for a 09 Corvette we are working on.

These replica and replacement stickers are one component car thieves would need to alter the idenity of a stolen car. Just saying, not implying the OP has such intentions. |

Is it ok to have another person to buy a handgun for you if you can't legally buy it?
I will concede black market was improper, gray market is a better term. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_market |
