removing the oil pump... do you have to remove the motor from the car??

So im in the middle of a cam swap (changing out the BTR for a GP tuning) and have ran into a road block. I need to pull the oil pump to replace the LSA timing chain tensioner with the LS2 Damper AND install the C5R timing chain. In order to do any of that, the oil pan has to at a minimum, be lowered to access the pickup tube bolt.

I can find info on dropping a standard LS3 pan all day, but they don't have the big ass cooler on the driver side of the pan. Looking at the pan from the bottom, it seems nearly impossible to lower the pan to access that PIA bolt without just removing the motor entirely.

What is everyone doing to make accessing that pickup tube bolt achievable? can the pan be lowered without removing the oil cooler on the drivers side fo the pan?

You either have to remove the motor or cutt the cross member . There’s a member here that you can buy the adapters to. Bolt back your crossmember together .

just drop the oil pan enough to get at pick up tube bolt. pack some rags
in the pan opening so you dont lose the bolt in the pan...
just take your time its not that hard..

It can be a pain in the ass, but you need to remove the small bolts that hold the wire harness that goes under the oil pan. Once that has been done, you will have the room required.
