Another Price Gouging Dealer
My wife and I stopped in Herb Connolly Chevrolet in Framingham, MA today. They had a black ZL1 in stock. They are adding $5k to the sticker. They offer me $24k for my 10 2SS, which is in damn near showroom condition. The car has never seen snow, seen rain only a couple of times, and kept in a heated garage. it gets professionally detail at least twice a year, which leads to the best part...... Hold on for this one...... They were going to deduct $1000 for reconditioning my car! WTF? Has anybody else ever had dealings with a dealership that had the audacity to try this?

I do not support that type dealer. I don't know if you can travel to get your car, but there are plenty of good dealers around the country who do NOT do that. Some use the slogan "promises made, promises kept", some sell all cars "at cost"..... Look for the sponsor dealers on Camaro 5 as well! They do not gouge. My dealer (sig) does not gouge either.
Good shopping! |

I've heard of the $1000 reconditioning before but it wasn't that much, it was about $100-500. And needless to say that dealer did not earn my business. Fact of the matter is, $24k for a 2010 2SS is probably what they are going for at auction. |

Have to be patient and look around the country for MSRP.
My first dealer backed of our original agreement from MSRP and 6 months later wanted 10k over. My second dealer had a written agreement with my 5k deposite at MSRP. Was promised first on the list only to find on there website 3 being offered but already sold to others. Just called them a few days ago and they agreed to send me 5k deposite back since they can not supply me with a 2012 anymore. Working now with my third in the hopes I can purchase a 2013 ZL1 in a couple months. One thing I have found out the hard way is some dealers only care about your money and nothing else. But there are good dealers out there you just have to look be patient and perhaps be a little lucky. Just remember the 2013's will be out soon and 2012's that are overpriced will be a model year old very soon.

I traded my 2010, 2 SS in and got $27,500, it's on the lot for $31,800 and they have a number of potential buyers interested. How many miles were on your 2SS? Mine had 7400. Also received my ZL1 at MSRP.

$24k is a low ball. I just had my 2010 1SS/RS M6 w/ 5,230 miles on it, mint condition, appraised last month by a Dodge dealer on a possible trade for a 2013 Ram 1500 (only so the sales man would acknowledge me).
After checking it out he told me that I might be better off selling it out right because the most they would give me towards a trade on the new truck was $26,500. I wouldn't give them my own car for less than $28k. So $24k is below the belt imho. They will turn around and sell it for $32k. Go somewhere else FTW!. |

I was talking about the OP's 2SS car. I don't know what a 1SS would resell for honestly.
To the OP: $24 is too low, that is all. Last edited by midnighter; 05-12-2012 at 10:27 PM. Reason: 2 typos in 1 post |

Gotta love the dealers trying to give you AUCTION or WHOLESALE prices when you are NOT an auction or wholesaler. You are a customer on the lot. Not at a damn auction. I have always said they can take the black book and shove it up the azz!!!
Also I have had a few dealers say that my car was "fair" when the car was like new off of the lot. For real, my car looked new in and out and might as well been new but they still say they use "fair" condition on ALL trade in prices. I say BYE!!!
