I don't see what the big deal is. I could care less if GM decided to equip the base model with a hamster wheel!

I really don't like supercharged either - naturally aspirated cubic inches are what I'm looking for and if the factory doesn't offer it, some company like Berger or someone will step up (for a lot of dough, though) and take care of it. Incidentally, back in the early 90's I had a turbo eclipse, and although I hated the turbo lag, once you got past that, the car was fast. Regardless, I only had that car a short time before I smartened up and got the first of my now two Camaros, soon to be three!

Woah Woah Woah!!!!!! Mr. Lutz. With all due respect if I wanted "Premium" pricing I can get that from my local BMW dealer. Not to mention a better warranty than GM offers. Better service at the dealers, better reliability and a better interior than what GM has currently on the market. Look if I'm gonna pay a premium price I'll get something that will hold its value better over time. So far we know nothing about the interior and not much about the motors and even less about the pricing. The best way for GM to screw this up is to price it out of the ordinary Joe's pocket book. This is what makes GM, not a couple of people that are willing to pay thru the snout for "premium" pricing. 100k cars by the end of next year???? At those prices try 25k total. Mustang GT here I come!

3.6 V6 = around 260
4 banger turbo = around 260

WHATS THE BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I know "its a muscle car" but times are changing and why not use a more efficient engine.

Come on you guys. Its as simple as this.

$$ an 1/2 = Ford = POS
$$$ = Charger = Ok
$$$ an 1/2 = Camaro = Best in class

Not that Id ever Buy a Mustang or Charger.

Its a no brain-er!

Camaro---or nothing at all!

So it's a Cobalt SS in a Camaro body. Think seriously about this, GM. It'll be a heavier, bigger Cobalt. You'd be letting one of the greatest muscle cars ever built be beaten by a new, unorthodox 4-banger. This is a terrible idea.

I've been fighting off the folks that have been saying that this car would fail for a long time but with these comments, I might have to change my mind. If they're planning on having a $25-30k V6 Camaro, then the car will never sell. It will sit on dealers lots just like the GTO did and the car will be dead in 2-3 years.

Why go with the DI 3.6? It's an expensive motor and if you want performance, just get the V8. I'd bet that both of those motors cost about the same! I never thought that GM wouldn't try to compete with the Mustang. It seems to me that they're trying to price this car to people in their 30's-50's that can afford a high dollar sports car and leaving the younger crowd out. GM is making a mistake here.

IF they do this, it will in the BASE camaro. The cobalt SS is that, an SS.
GM is trying to put an efficient engine in a stunny body. The people that buy the base camaro (mostly none of us) dont care that a cobalt SS can beat them in a race.

Please, if you are going to waste your breath on posting dumb crap please get your dumb crap facts right. They don't make V4's for cars.

I can't honestly understand what everyone's getting so worked up for. It's not like they said they're not makeing the V-8! AND YOU CAN BUY ONE! The only thing that surprises me is that they are going to detune the DI V6. It doesn't make alot of sense to me if the 6 has the same power as the Turbo4. Even just a little more torque doesn't matter. Leave the 6 like it is in the CTS!
