slvrbulit's issue is that the new LT car with a Z51 package specs are out...it doesn't outrun a C6Z06. It appears to be quicker than a C6 by a hair though.

My parents have a 2004 Z06. I definitly prefer my SS to it. It rides better and it isn't that much slower then the 2004. The 1LE is a step up from my 2010 SS too. You may also want to look at the ZL1. It's more money then the 1LE, but it's got more juice and some nice bells and whisles.

I might of missed it but most C6Zs run in the 12.1-3/118-120 range stock. The C7 Z51 is running 12.0-12.2/117-120 range. I figure with the new PTM the Z51 is going to be faster on the road course for the majority of buyers as well.

Of course, the Z has the fastest time over all once Ranger got ahold of it but Im sure he will wring more out of the C7 than magazines can as well.

Figure eight times are fairly dang close with different magazines putting each car in front. Then, the Z51 doesnt have the wide tires of the Z06 and it makes you wonder a bit.

Then, throw in the costs. A Z51 C7 Corvette is $54,795. A Z06 is $75,600.

I had a 2002 Z06, and while I don't have a 1LE I have driven a 6MT SS and my car runs very low 12's.

I think if you like the feel of the Camaro, then go drive one. They are night and day difference from a C5Z. The C5Z is super light and feels like something you really throw around but even with a partition for the back it was pretty loud inside. The Camaro is much more refined. That said, I'd like one of each. Newer C6Z is cool but the C5Z felt more racy to me.

My old one:

There are so many C6Z06s with low miles or still sitting on the lots new at $15K off that you can still get one for a great price with a warranty.

Exactly. I think they went with a little too much power for the C6 and it threw the balance out of whack. A C5Z lowered with a few mods so it can make about 400 to the wheels is a very, very, very fun machine. Perfectly balanced with a great steering input.

I know you're asking about going to a 1LE, but below is what I posted a few years back when someone asked the same question about going from a C5 Z06 to an SS:

Obviously the Z06 will out-handle the SS, but how often do you really push your Z06 to the limit? I rarely (if ever) did. So from the handling aspect, I can tell the difference, but I really don't miss it.

Acceleration is a different matter altogether though. Yeah, the LS3 SS MIGHT make 21 more HP (I have my doubts....from what I saw, most stock LS6 Z06's seem to dyno 350-370 and SS LS3 SS's from 355-375), but considering the Z06 is 700-800lbs lighter......your Z06 will blow away a stock SS if drivers are equal.

Some other differences (in my opinion):
-The Z06 is louder, rougher and doesn't seem as "refined" (not necessarily a bad thing) than the SS.
-When I was in my Z06 I felt like I was part of the car, I don't quite get the same "vibe" in the SS.
-I don't get the same sensation of speed in the SS as I did in the Z06 due to the softer suspension and not being as low to the road. The same highway speeds feel about 10 mph slower in the SS than in the Z06. Once you get up to triple digits (on a track of course ) you'd swear the SS speedometer is off by at least 20mph.
Looks.....purely subjective. As much as I LOVE the look of the Z06 (compared to "regular" C5's and C6's), I LOVED the look of the 5th Gen the day the first pics of the concept started leaking out. I also love the look of the SS interior, the Z06 was "nice and functional", but nothing special.

Do I miss the acceleration? You bet I do....almost every day, but I DON'T regret my decision to get rid of the Z06 for my SS at all. If I had it to do again, I would.
