FE4/ZL1 Suspension Upgrade

I'm looking to overhaul my suspension (abandoned any hope of saving for that SC), and want to switch over to FE4 LCA's, toe rods, Sway bar links, and the ZL1 sways. Now I KNOW on the V6's there was said to be trouble with the sways hitting the brakes when the pads wear down. I also know people did the upgrade without upgrading their brakes and had no problems. If I were to upgrade my pads to fresh ones when i do the suspension, how likely is it that I would run into trouble? I really would like to avoid spending the extra $500 on a used set of rear brakes off an SS, unless absolutely necessary.

Keep an eye out as I got my rear Brembos on a straight trade with someone. any drag racers are looking for the V6 rear brake trade.

Call Tyler over at JDP Motorsports.

Or Rob @ Wretched since he is closer to you in CT.

They can give you a hand with all of the technical details and give you a great price.

BTW, this is an awesome upgrade!!!!

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

I know for a fact that the Pedders ZL1 Conversion has no problem with the stock v6 brakes. If you use their stuff, you'll have no problems and won't have to upgrade to the brembos

The only issue is that the pedders package costs $9xx.00. OEM costs less than half that. At that price I could get used brembos and the OEM parts

Yea well with the oem parts you run the risk of things not fitting with the brakes

I understand that too. But what I was really looking to find out is how big the risk is. I was hoping some people who maybe did the upgrade without changing brakes could chime in.

Personally, I wouild not take the risk of having known fitment issues. Your best bet would be to upgrade your brakes to that of the SS or go with the Pedders FE4 style bars.

We do offer package pricing, so feel free shoot me over a PM with what all you are looking for and I can work you out a good deal to work with your budget.

Not to thread jack but is there a benefit to this as opposed to just upgrading the suspension that you currently have and not converting it?

Absolutely! The 1LE or ZL1 sway bars would be a HUGE improvement over the stock V6 bars, but I wouldn't even attempt it until swapping out the brakes. Ultimately, even the 1LE and ZL1 can benefit from sway bar upgrades as well, just not as dramatic as going from V6 sways.

Best regards,

Tyler
