I can vouch for the 5th gen safety as well... i was in a wreck last year that totaled my 2010 and i didnt have a single scratch.. thank god.. but the whole front clip was destroyed ... but it got me the car i wanted so it was a blessing in the end

Even more amazing is this thing looks like a convertible. I'm not sure if the car plunged then rolled at all, but still crazy to me how safe he was

Highhouse, Hightower, whatever his name was, he sounded prepared for a 50 ft plunge! Glad he was ok.

Looks like a 6th gen cuz of the nostrils on the hood - I'm not an expert on 6th gens - do the nostrils mean it was an SS?

Thanks, I read it was a 2016 in another article. 2016 SS verts still go for the low to mid 30's in central Fla, I wonder if he'll have trouble collecting that from his insurance given he got a careless driving ticket?

def a 6th gen, but holy moly!, that has been one of my fears since i was a kid, seeing all the kid marks off over passes , it looks on in Houston and Katy areas here the drops are more than 50 foot drops, and always had a fear of driving off, even had vivid imagination, but seeing this happen.. just goose bumps, thank god the guy is ok, that's why we don't rubber neck or stay on phones while driving or look at women's goods lol! , distractions are a killer, clearly... but damn this is nasty and scary just a straight drop...

Thomas Highhouse was driving his convertible Chevy Camaro southbound on I-275 when he looked away from the road to tune his radio, veered out of his lane, crashed through the guardrail and landed on the surface street below.

Please leave the radio, cellphone or whatever until you are stopped or parked. Nothing is worth jeopardizing your life or someone else's.

The story sounds a little fishy to me - the car has steering wheel audio controls and probably has HUD which shows the radio info when you change stations - thus no need to look down to tune the radio - unless maybe he was messing with the equalizer or something?
