SS4 cam and other goodies
I've used this site a lot in the past year as a source of 5th gen knowledge and reference, and am grateful for the wealth of knowledge that is here on this site.
Until now my SS has just been simple bolt ons; just a K&N Cold Air kit and TSP long tubes, but I am taking it in to GPI on the 21st for these: SS4 GPI VVT cam Circle D 4k converter 3.91 1LE gears ADM transmission cooler Powerbond damper 18" Z06 reproduction wheels Nitto NTO5R drag radials (will try the Mickeys next time) I intend to get some BMR trailing arms and bushings, probably around the time I step up for some Mickeys. Currently running 8.4 at 87 mph in the 1/8 with a 2.0 60', hoping to see those times improve!

You may want to of course do supporting mods for those done with trunnion upgrade to bushing, c5r chain; chain damper switch to dogbone, but many do without those and are OK. Just some thoughts to go with the install, toes at the same time also would be good since your doing 1/2 of the rears main supports to help wheel hop elimination. And well I would prefer the z28 even stock intake compared to a cheaper heat soaking induction tube that chromed steel is with most K&N that sell for cheap and of course there are threads on all these and comparisons and reasons. Hopefully you have stepped up to a good catch can long ago also..... Just some thoughts, like a ported TB.....etc …..new good plugs required etc...

I had similar setup but with head work. Made 480rwhp. Car is fun to drive though
I have all the suspension work you talked about and it helps at the track. Only got one run in and couldn’t get it dialed in as track had oil spoiled. Ran 11.7 |

Cool, do you still have the car? Time for another trip to the track and get it dialed in!

You won't be disappointed with the guys at GPI - the service is outstanding. The SS4 along with a 4k stall and 3.91s is going to completely transform the car - it'll be an animal.
Whether or not the NT05Rs will work for you will depend on how hard you want to hit it off the line. My experience is that they are really pretty decent, but they don't measure up to the Mickey Thompson ET S/S stuff in pure traction. At our power levels, that really only is noticeable right at the hit, once rolling they stay hooked up pretty good. Air them down, heat them up, and they are probably about 80% of what you need at the track. For the extended life (it's my understand they last 2-3x as long as ET S/S's) that's a sacrifice I may continue to make as someone that drives a lot.

Definitely, and my reasoning was 3 fold for the Nittos; for one I've put a bunch of dough already so the Nittos were a little easier on the wallet. Two, I wanted to at least give them a try before I go to the Mickeys, so I have a good way to guage the improvements and be able to recommend them to others. And three, I was thinking about making the NTO5Rs my summer tire, keep a decent set of winter tires (all 4 corners) should I need them for those drives up to Michigan, and keep the Mickeys as a pure track tire, given they have a shorter lifespan.

Damn. One more try.
https://youtu.be/LcgK_WnPRUk Yeah i would love to see 10s. Did you go with an aftermarket head or OEM ported? Again, I hear good things from Bo White's head porting.

I'll be back out at the track next month. Car had more in it but I spun bad leaving. I had the NT05Rs and didn't care to much for them at the track. I tried M&H this time and when they are done I'll try out the Mickeys. By then I should know which one works best for my setup.
