Freeze Lifters
Today, on my 78, I changed lifters and push rods.
I bought new performance parts (sealed power) from Rockauto, but it seems to me, that they sold me old parts that were lying on the store hundred years . I mounted it in car, 2 adjusted the valve clearance but still engine sound like a sewing machine. I think the lifters are stuck..? Glued..? old protect oil. What with this...? If I try to drive it, warm up the engine (if it doesn't move) can it damage camshaft? |

Did you prime the new lifters by immersing them in oil and pumping them to ensure oil is inside?
Is it possible you got solids instead of hydraulics? Cannot tell from the pictures but the ones in the tub do not appear to have retainer clips and the plungers look very low in their body.

But the problem is that Rockauto sent me 11 lifters from year 1995 and 5 lifters from 2018. To do it at the store, I throw it to the seller on the head. I hate different parts in the set!!!! See the difference? (in very hot oil) And the 95s are so stuck with old dried oil that they don't move. :mad0 260:: mad0260::mad02 60: The second time Rockauto disappointed me. Much disappointed me!!! He will probably lose a longtime customer. |
