After being better informed I want to buy a stock 2.92 diff for experiments in shoving in a LSD. I assume someone has swapped out their V6 diff and has it laying around collecting dust...

Like the title says I'm looking for a stock v6 lsd 3.27. I would like the whole center section to make my like easier, and haven't seen any how to vids on changing the gears in this thing. I like the great mpg of the 3.27 but want to paint down two stripes not one. prefer CA pick up even better SF Bay Area pick up.

Also has there been any talk of a revolt against chevy for not disclosing the axle ratio or lsd on the window sticker? On their website it says the LSD is standard equipment. Its hard to find a place that tells you that you don't get an LSD with the auto even though you paid more for the car...

You won't find one, as they do not exist to my knowledge (at least for a v6 auto diff). You can swap in the diff from the manual Trans v6 car, but they are the same as the ss diff, so you will also need to swap the axles, hubs, and at least half of the drive line.

Also, did you know that your current gear set in a 2ls trim is actually a 2.92? Your best bet is to just swap in a 3.27 open diff. That's what I'm doing.

Also, I have not been able to find any kind of aftermarket LSD/locker for this v6 auto diff... Nothing in Australia that I've found either...

The 3.27 diff automatic v6, yes... You can swap the whole diff... Or you can swap the ring & pinion from a v6 automatic if you want, but if you are going to go through all that trouble, you might as well swap in a set of Richmond 3.55 gears.

I'm confused as to why they put the SS beefed up differential in the base model V6 camaro?

Is there a list of of what factory differential options are available?

And pardon my un-knowledge but are there any other GM cars that match up with this V6 bum pumpkin?

And why is there no aftermarket LSD available?

Only the manual transmission v6 cars got the "ss" diff, the automatic v6 cars got the weaker diff.

1LS, 1LT, and 2LT v6 cars got the 3.27 gear, only the manual transmisson cars got the bigger "SS" LSD diff, all auto v6 cars got the smaller open diff. The 2LS gets the 2.92 geared diff for that 30mpg hwy number.

SS gets the options of 3.27, 3.45, and 3.91 (1LE), all have the LSD.

I have not found any other cars that use the small v6 auto diff, there are some Holden cars in Australia that got it, but from the research I've done, it seems that they are in the same boat.

No aftermarket LSD is available because A) No one has made one yet, at least that I have found... B) No one cares about this diff because it's not used in many cars?

Ok now I'm more informed about my lame diff. Has anybody tried shoving in a posi/LSD unit from an older GM 7.5/7.625 10 bolt? it's got to be pretty close to our 7.6 right?

To my knowledge, I haven't seen anyone try it. If I remember right the spline count on the axle that go into the diff was 26, but I'd have to recount again to be sure.

I was debating on buying a 7.5" 26 spline mini spool (cheap) just to see if it would all bolt together. Obviously you don't want a mini spool on the street, but it's a cheap way to see if something else for the 7.5/7.6 would work... It's a long shot, but you don't know if you don't try.

Something else you may also research is the 7.6 IFS (4x4 front diff used on small 4x4's 04 and up ie Colorado)... I imagine it's probably pretty similar to the 7.6 IRS used in the a6 v6 Camaro, but do your research before you spend a wad of $$ on it.

Wouldnt the g8 stock rear end work it has 2.92s in it and were all swapping to the camaro rears with 3.27s or 3.45s. Im getting ready to swap mine over to a 3.45 and my rear diff will be just sitting around. Pm me if interested and we can figure something out.
