Street Radials
Whats everyone using for street radials?
I was on Mickey Thompsons website and saw the biggest tire they make is an 18". Does some one make SR for our rims, or is everyone just getting new, smaller rims to mount the SR on? |

I'm going to assume you are talking about "Drag" Radials???
If so, then yes, "Nitto" makes some very good drag radials, some that will even fit the OEM wheels. M/T is supposed to be releasing some 20" DR's next month I believe. And for the guys swapping out wheels to the smaller diameter 17" or 18", M & H Tires makes some great DR's. |

Yeah, I think for the 20" wheels, right now the most popular DR's are the Nitto NT05R and NT555R. The NT05R are great drag tires with a nice soft compound, but I think they wear down fairly quick. Because of that, I don't know if I would put them on a DD street car. The NT555R are not quite as soft, but they last longer, and are even a little more safer on wet roads (better choice for DD street car).

NT05Rs really should not be driven on wet streets. If you look at the tread pattern on the NT05R its a slick down the middle section of the tire. The NT555R has tread down the middle of the tire which helps traction on wet roads. Nitto gives the NT05Rs a score of 1.5 out of 5 for wet traction. Nitto gives the NT555R a score of 2.5 out of 5 for wet traction. So neither tire is ranked very high in wet traction, but the NT555R does provide better traction on wet surfaces. But the NT05R is a superior tire on dry surfaces. Nitto gives the NT05Rs a score of 5 out of 5 for dry traction. Nitto gives the NT555R a score of 4 out of 5 for dry traction. |

I usually get my Nittos from http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do
Unfortunately tirerack.com doesn't sell them. For my other tires I try to use them because they are a forum vendor. |
