This was totally preventable. I've worked in this area Installing caisson foundations down 100+ feet to prevent failure of structures in case a sink hole develops.

Two of the corvettes were on loan direct from GM.

Just terrible. Unbelieveble. We have events with our club there every year and are so looking forward to the motorsports park opening. It is a blessing that it happened at night so no one was hurt.

Can we now have a moment of silence........................................... ....................

What a shame. I hope all the cars are recovered and restored. Good news is nobody was hurt.

The local news just reported that the museum is actually going to be open tomorrow, just not in the area where the sinkhole is. That is really surprising to me given how that sinkhole looks in the pics & videos. I know I would not want to be there tomorrow.

Watch Six of Chevy's most important part of history get sucked up by sink hole

WATCH it has it happens as Six prize Vehicles on loan from Chevy get sucked up by a sink hole, cars so important to Chevy's history that they were never to be sold....First ZR1 produced Gone...so say the reports ..some may be gone forever, and others may be able to be saved, but they will never be the same or hold the same Value since they were all in original factory never titled condition. Sad sad day...
