With the way GM operates now, a Firebird/Trans-Am wouldn't have the tiniest bit of mechanical difference from the Camaro. Same power, same suspension, same transmission and gearing. GM is a rebadging machine. The most they'll do is swap out a few body panels and maybe a different interior design if they have extra cash on hand. A Firebird would be about as different from a Camaro as the G5 is from the Cobalt.

actually yes. the firehawk (and some WS6s with the 1LE suspension) do handle better than normal, but in repeated road tests over the years the firebird (formula or ws6) has shown a history of having a softer suspension
here's some examples. http://www.stangbangers.com/98_Cobra...rd_Article.htm http://www.stangbangers.com/94_Cobra...rd_Article.htm http://www.stangbangers.com/96_Cobra...rd_Article.htm and for more comparisons vs the mustang... http://www.stangbangers.com/Mustang_Articles.htm

leave the breaking bird in the ashes where it is! Let GM focus on one car the Camaro! They have many more important projects to push through for the companies viability. A rebadged Camaro is not one of them!

Bumping to annoy people. Seriously, it's amusing to me how some people get so annoyed about a topic they're not even interested in. Then don't read it!

I thought GM was doing away with Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, Saturn, etc.? If so, a Firebird is highly unlikely.

It will be a sad day for America if Pontiac does not survive.
