That sounds hideous. The first thing I'm going to have to do to my ZL1 is get rid of the crappy pop and fart. That is embarrassing in a new performance vehicle. If I wanted po and fart I'd throw on some 17 dollar glasspacks and be done with it...

A lot of the Vette owners seem to like the popping on decel. Personally I like the sound of a well tuned solid roller big block on the street with no popping but I'm old school.
Here is an explanation of what's happening there.
The C6 Z06 exhaust design mandated the placement of the CAT's right next to the exhaust manifolds in order to meet cold start-up emissions. By placing the converters so close to the cylinder heads the side affect created by the larger overlap of the LS7 cam (and to a similar degree on the ZR1) is the unburned hydrocarbons are being lit-off by the CAT's and the popping condition is actually the worst when the car is cold due to the richer condition created by the cold idle/running condition. This condition has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the C6 exhaust system or muffler design!
I think more restrictive mufflers could tame the popping if you don't like it, but the popping would still be there, just quieter.
Note also that the vids of the ZL1 that we have seem all seem to be cold engines being free revved in neutral when the mixture is richest.

So removing the cats would solve the popping?

There is a popping sound whenever you take your foot off the gas in any gear and on downshifting. Sounds very similar to backfiring on a carbureted small block Chevy.

Even my V6 pops when my cut outs are open, not nearly as loud as the ZL1 but its entirely noticeable. Im loving the louder pop from these cars...

I wonder how they made it that loud and still made the car 50 state legal?

The base C6 also has the cats located near the manifolds. I did not have any decel burble in stock form. I added Borla axle back mufflers and still no burble. Once I added the LG long tube headers and moved the cats further back the decel burble started so I'm not convinced it's the location of the cats.

I'm gonna have to agree with you, no one can say they took their time engineering that noise, it sounds like Borla's ATAK on an SS hardly anything ground breaking but OEM exhuast "Rarely" ever is...
