Synchro replacement, big job?
I have a 2010 Manual, curious how big of a job it is to have the synchros replaced with the carbon ones. Mine isn’t to bad but It’s something that bothers me so was wondering how big of a job it is to have done.. I would likely pull the trans myself and drop off at the shop. Parts seem reasonable. Wondering what kind of Labour is Involved .
Anyone have this done? |

I sent mine to Tick Performance. It was $1699 with "free" shipping both ways.

The transmission has to come completely apart. I paid a shop 600bucks, I purchased, and dropped off all the parts. It is the same rebuild as Tick but for half the price.

SO howd you manage that? you pulled the trans yourself? or the shop pulled it, split it, assembled it and reinstalled it? what parts did you use to get the same build? I ask because I am looking at the tick build right now.

Yes, I pulled the trans and dropped it off, then picked it up and installed. I bought most the parts from Tick; carbon fiber blockers rings, bronze shifter cup, and bronze fork pads. I got the rear bearing support from Rockland Gear I got new GM seals and even had to buy a new shifter fork rod because one got bent. I saved some $500+ bucks doing it my way compared to their lvl 1 rebuild. I didnt need the upgraded Gforce shaft, no one really needs it unless you have an early 2010 build. Even then I would just replace it with a GM one.

Mine was built in sept 09 and didnt have the weak shaft, it was early vin's. The parts cost me thereabout that much, I think it was around $750. Yes, the rebuild cost me $600. I dont know if you would save much by having a shop R&R and rebuild it.
