Still waiting.

Does anyone have any projected production numbers moving forward? for the 1LT M6's?

You'd think that with this much demand, you'd increase shifts and bring on more people....

This wait is going to kill me.

So this has definitely been the best 4th of July ever for me (well, almost). While I was on vacation my salesman called to say my car has been built!!! Said we should see her in 2 weeks or so, here's hoping that holds true! Need to ask about VIN though, was to excited at the time...

Road Trip Report

Road Trip July 4-7, 2009
Woodbury, Minnesota to Grand Rapids, Michigan

I finally got my chance to take the 2LT (M6V6) out on the open road for some quality miles. Here are my impressions, thoughts, and observations.

Comfort
Smooth is the word. It was just smooth. I love this car.

With the cruise set, I could pretty much drive using just my left thumb on the cruise controls.

The iPod connection is great. Used the Bluetooth connection to the iPhone a few times. Even listened to DET vs. MIN on the XM radio.

We played around a lot with the eNav feature. I pre-planned our route on Mapquest and then downloaded it to OnStar.. We were both quite impressed with the accuracy of the system and the ease of use of the interface. I would choose eNAV over a Tom-Tom any day. My wife hates gadgets – but she likes this.

#1 Endorsement -- My wife did not complain about the ride, the fit of the seat, the interior temperature, the airflow, the leg room, or anything else for that matter, during the entire trip. She would complain about trips to the store in the Gen4.
(Face it, the Gen4 is just not a very comfortable road car for your passengers…)

Soda, Water, Snacks, and Lunches: $75
Gasoline: $150
2010 Camaro 2LT: $27,995
Happy Spouse on a Road Trip: Priceless!

Handling/Performance
There is plenty of torque and I can’t remember the engine ever lugging or straining to hold speed under cruise control. There are some 4% grades on I-90/I-94 in central Wisconsin and she just purred right along.

We had alternating light to moderate rain with some pooling on the road in just a few spots for about 100 mines while crossing Illinois on the outbound leg. I never once felt apprehensive about holding the road or anything like that, even with those wide tires.

Quick Facts
Total distance traveled, 1062 Miles
Two adults, a small dog, and a full trunk.
That trunk holds a lot more than you think if you pack it carefully.
And it sure beats the heck out of the Gen4’s T-Top well.

Average fuel Mileage 28.8 Mpg at an average speed of 62.1 Mph
I reset both of these on the DIC before I left and did not touch them until I took the attached pics. These stats include the long legs of the trip, plus a few short trips around Grand Rapids.

X Factor
The best part of the trip was the $10 looks we got all along the way.
Two guys in a nice looking blue Charger gave us the nod near the Belvidere Assembly plant, as did every almost motorcycle that passed us.

Had a ricer with a high wing come up on me from behind at well over 90 for a look. Thought he wanted me to race, but it turns out he was exiting in less than a 1/4 mile and did not want to miss his chance to gawk. (Drool?)

Most memorable was about 6 miles from home on the way back. We had just exited the freeway, crossed over it, and we were approaching the far side frontage road. The cars to our right on the frontage road were backed up waiting to turn into our lane. Just before we crossed that intersection car# 2 in line rear-ended car #1 rather smartly.

Before I could even open mouth my wife said, “Did you see that? He just hit that guy! I wonder if he was looking at the car?”

Did my Camaro cause an accident? I guess I will never know.

Meh, forget it. Get the car, you'll get a bunch of tail and forget about any need you have for a deeper relationship...
