Does anybody else's AC Compressor whine?
I've noticed my AC compressor whines when the clutch is engaged, goes with the RPM of the engine.
I know on some cars, this is a common thing, and its just the way it is, but I dont know about the Camaro, specifically L99. At first I thought it was the power steering, but then I noticed its only when the AC compressor is engaged. Anybody?

I notice it on my L99 too. Fine with me if it's normal, but I'm glad to see your post. I was wondering if it was just me. It's just a bid disconcerting.

I agree, if it is just how it is, thats peftectly fine with me, but if not....
What number are you? I'm 29144 I had a 2008 Dodge Nitro 3.7L in this last week with the same noise, coming from the AC compressor, the customer whined and complained about it. I havent driven many of them so I agreed with her that it was abnormal. Replaced the compressor, same noise still! So I stole an 08 Nitro and an 08 Jeep Liberty (same car) off the used car lot, and they both had the same noise. They changed the compressor for the 09 model year, and it didnt have the noise, but all the 08 Liberty's and Nitros with the 3.7L have that sound. So if its normal for the L99 Camaro, thats cool with me. Anybody else have this noise?

Is that what that whine is? 2011 L99.... I only have 600 miles on it and was not sure if that was something new or not.

I never heard it untill i came out of a brush-less car wash one day. Throttle has a strange feel to it when it is whining also.

Mine whines too. I am 6801 and did not notice it last year. Not saying that it did not do it, but it is loud and even if nothing is mechanically wrong, it sound like something is wrong! Is this just an L99 problem? I wouldn't think so.

Did anybody resolve this? I notice mine doing this, I'd doesn't bother me that much since everything still works fine.

mine does it. Don't really hear it unless the radio is off, and nothing is mechanically wrong with it so I haven't cared.

Mine did it too and they replaced it under warranty and it fixed the whine. It is a early production 2010 car (0039xx) and they were replacing them then instead of saying it was "normal".

My compressor doesn't whine, but the A/C fan does sound like the back-thrust on a 747.

I have the same problem My Camaro is a 2010 SS. I've taken my car to two different dealerships already. They both replaced the AC compressor and it is still whines loud. I contacted GM Customer Service and they gave me a reference number. They just assigned a field specialist to contact me. Hopefully he will help me identify the problem.
